Back when I did the WJ knuckle swap, the brakes started doing something odd. If the XJ has been sitting for a day or two and I start to drive, the brakes are super sensitive. So much so, that barely tapping the brake pedal will lock up the brakes and almost through me out of my seat. But after driving for maybe 15 minutes, the brakes get really loose.
The brake pedal does not gradually depress when pressure is applied. The brakes simply aren't strong after driving a few minutes.
The Italian inspector on base gave me grief last year about the brakes. They have this pad they drive the vehicles up on at about 25 mph and slam on the brakes. The Jeep didn't score so well, but he was unable to explain it in English to me and finally gave up and just passed it.
I have a feeling it would get slipped through this year.
