on 3.5 inches of lift i still dont have extended front brake lines, i just bent the hard line untill it was at full length. a few times flexing people tell me to stop because my stock brake lines become my limiting straps

sooo is there any sneaky tricks anyone knows for longer brake lines besides buying the extended ones from an off road company?

also i tried to replace one of my front break lines a while back and i could not seperate the hard line from rubber line("new location" on the picture) to save my life. i p blasted it and vice gripped the hell out of it and the metal peice morphed life butter

here is a visual aid

I've been meaning to google on over to NAXJA to search for this myself, maybe someone here will know. There is probably some OEM application flex line that has the same fittings as an XJ, but longer rubber, like maybe even a YJ. In the past, I had seen a spreadsheet showing this, it had CJ and YJ stuff, not sure XJs. IIRC, certain GM pickups had longer lines with the same fittings as later model CJs and YJs.

oleblue, that won't do you much good if you can't get the old ones off. Line wrenches are supposed to prevent rounding of the nut. Once again..won't do you any good. You might need to cut the line (tubing cutter) and re-flare whats left.

YJ lines are longer and I believe, good up to a 4.5" lift. Seems like I ran across something a while back that mentioned getting them from a 1995 YJ. After some quick searching on naxja it seems you may need the metal lines as well? More research needed.

For the rear you can use the ones from an MJ, but there only a little longer than the XJ.

I bought the rough country ones for 6" of lift. IIRC they were pretty cheap. Check amazon.com.

Also found this on naxja.org, it mentions GM brake lines: http://www.naxja.org/forum/showthread.php?t=952210&page=2

yj lines up front are 4" longer and bolt right in. Dakota line in the rear is 8" longer. YJ line in the rear IIRC is 4" longer too. All bolt right in. If you want ebrake cables then you need 2 passsanger side yj lines. HTH.

check out alliance hose and tube in winston..they can do stainless steel lines for a great price in any length you want!

greensboro?
Winston?

Same difference to me lol

we made extensions for mine and a buddies xj, just got a piece of hard brake line and the couplings, he borrowed a flaring tool to fix the ends

I had them make all the lines for my jeep, and new lines made for my vette. You can't beat their prices or service. And they make exactly what you need to fit your application on the spot. And from my experience, their custom lines run about the same cost as stock replacement lines for many applications.

sweet. burrellsjeep i owe ya one. this will save me some major greenbacks. and i will see if i can unscrew the old brake lines. if not i will need some help cutting and reflaring or finding another alternative
