if i take my stock fender flares off my xj, will it give me anymore tire clearence?

Not unless you trim the fenders

so just trim around the edge of the flare?

Here are a few links, what ever you do unless you really want to weld the 1/4 panels back together do not cut past the spot welds in the rear

I promise you man. I didn't want to cut the front flares and fenders, but after you get them ripped off and you start cutting... It is very worth it. I think the frint looks so much better with a nice trim
