Anyone in the Kernersville area want to help me replace the flex plate in my XJ? I have a heated shop and all the tools, I've just never done one before and might need a few pointers and an extra set of hands. I'll compensate appropriately. PM me if your interested. Thanks

being a xj fanatic, wish I was closer I would help in a hearbeat. Those are really easy to work on though...just DON"T round off the E12 bolts at the top of bell housing and you'll be fine, and no a 12point 10mm doesn't work even though it will seem to fit really good. you need about 2.5ft of extensions for those and CPS and just take your time. If you don't have a trans jack, use floor jack with 2x10 board and ratchet strap the trans to it really good once unbolted and if it's balanced pretty good it won't move and will go back up the same way came out. I've been a one man Jeep Mechanic for long time and used to doing jobs like this without help so just trying to help point you in the right direction. any other questions ask away. sorry couldn't come and help though!!

yessir good luck man

Make sure you loctite and TORQUE to spec the flex plate to the crank and the torque converter to the flex plate. They are known for coming loose about as bad as the flex plate is known for cracking. Just went through this with my 97 XJ

with a lift, tranny jack, "some" good tools, sounds like a 12 pack job with time to spare. On the ground, with a floor jack, better buy more beer, don't forget forget your friends flavors.

I ended up replacing it by myself, on the ground, with a floor jack, and unfortunately there was no beer
