I have a 1993 xj country edition....I have recently installed the rc 3 inch series 2 kit and I went ahead and ordered the transfer case drop kit just in case....well I'm having vibes only on acceleration but I've been reading on other forums about how a tc drop is bad for messing up other parts. Is there any truth to this? I'm kinda scared to do the tc drop cause I don't wanna dump more money into it unless I have to. Any help will be appreciated.

dropping your tcase will only create more problems. to help with the vibes i would first look at using shims to line up the axle pinion a little better. they are pretty cheap and easy to install. if that doesnt work then see if your u joints at the driveshaft are good. A slip yoke eliminator is the last thing you can do to get rid of vibes. Good luck!

I'm 99% sure after doing the lift, your rear pinion angle is off. You want your rear pinion 2 degrees down from the TC output angle. -> Meaning, If you put an angle finder on the end of the TC output shaft, and it reads 86 degrees, then you want the angle on the face of the rear diff pinion flange to be 84 degrees. Thats just an example. With leaf springs, your axle is going to wrap up slightly during accel, and thats why you want it 1-2 degress down from the TC angle, so that when it wraps up, its not binding and causing vibes.

On my 00 XJ, I have a budget 2.5" lift, and i fixed the pinion angle in the back with shims, and there still is a slight vibe during accel, To me its ok b/c it is a unibodied chrysler with poly bushings in everything, so i just ignore it.

But also be sure to check for worn u-joints, a new lift, will definitely show you where items were wearing at before.

Ok thanks for tue replies.....I'm beginning to wonder if its the tires because its only when I take off after 10mph its done vibrating and when I'm rolling up to a stop light the tread causes the jeep to shake. lol..... Because everyone keeps telling me on a 93 I should have no vibes and to look for other problems? Any input on this? Reason I'm asking is because the tires roar really bad and the vibes keep up with the sound of the roar until 10mph or so....

if there m/ts i can believe it.. when i put mine on you can fel the tread on the road while rolling to a stop under 20. consider an a/t tire

What does the "rc 3 inch series 2 kit" use for rear lift (add-a-leaf, longer shackle, or new leaf pack with or without shim)? You shouldnt need a tc-drop with 3" lift. Check your rear driveshaft U-joints, make sure there is no play side/side or up/down.

check your slip yoke engagement going into the back of the transfer case-in some cases the splines are at the very end after you've done the lift. cheap way to fix, but not for flexing is a longer slip yoke. the right way is a slip yoke eliminator, a hack-n-tap is an option as well.
