I bought a '92 Cherokee last week for a really good deal. I have a set of V8 Grand Cherokee coil springs, 2" spacers and 3" lift blocks to go on the Jeep so it'll have 3" of lift all the way around. Will I have to buy new shocks to run the 3" lift? Also, I have a set of 33/12.50/15 Super Swampers that I'm wanting to run. Will they work with the 3" lift? The fender flares have been removed but I don't want to start trimming anything yet. Thanks for the help!

Yes you will get about 3" of lift. you won't NEED new shocks, but I would recommend moving the mounts a little to compensate.. I do not recommend the blocks. The 33's will not clear with only 3" of lift. 6" you may be able to without cutting. but 3" you wont even be able to turn the wheel more than 1/3 turn before they rub. extensive cutting they will clear and rub a little in the rear over hard stuffage without extended bump stops.

Also plan on trimming the top of the mount that the lower control arms mounts to where it meets the axle. I had to cut a half inch off mine because they would hit when suspension was extended under flex, etc. If you don't want to trim fenders the biggest tire you could run would be a 31

lower control arms would hit when fully extended.. uppers would be compression, no? got a picture? I wouldn't recommend trimming anything off the CA's.. Only trouble I had with mine was the uppers compressing far enough to cut the auto trans lines on a hard landing, and that may have been to bump stops gone bad..

just noticed you edited that to say extended.. also consider moving the hard lines down the uniframe more to loosen some slack for the rubber brake lines, or just go the GM p/u line route..

blocks are no good, the springs will wrap and blow out the U-joint...happened to me with 2" blocks.
33s won't fit with 3" lift and no trimming.
You didn't mention anything about bumpstops...you will need to extend the existing ones, especially if you want to preserve the pretty untrimmed sheet metal you don't want to cut. Proper bumpstops will also help keep the passenfer UCA out of the tranny lines and the front driveshaft away from the exhaust. I've hit both.
You can get away with the factory shocks, but will have limited travel.

i would get a tera budget boost and call it a day, no 33's though offer to trade someone for thier 31's spend your money on lockers and have a ball

I might have said it backwords. I will try to get you a pic today. George

Here you go.....You can see where I cut the bottum of the shock tower. My cut is not perfectly straight. I didn't realize they were making contact until after I installed the lower link bar. It was very hard to install. Rather than taking it back off I just squeezed the grinder in there and cut away what was needed. Also here is a pic of what a 3 inch lift on 31s looks like. I hope this helps...

3 inch lift and 31s. They still rub when suspension is flexed hard. As you can see 33s will never work.
