well I've boycotted diesel prices and parked my dodge CTD
dually, bought an xj, and looking for advice on lift kits.
I will be using it to haul everyday power tools and accessing
jobsites, looking to go 3.5" and full spring rears, so flex is not a huge issue, but on road manners is.
any advice will or experience will be helpful....

If you are looking to order on line checkout 4x4groupbuy.com . They carry 6 or 8 different brands. I bought my RE 5.5in. kit from them and they were very good to work with. They have alot to choose from. You should be able to hind something there or just use them to figure out what you want and get an idea on the pricing also.

Rubicon express has a great 3.5 kit. i havent ran it personally, but havent herd ant downfalls. i run the Rough Country 4.5 kit, but with the add a leafs due to money shortage. i got mine so i could add to it.

rc is ok but rides like crap. if looking to save buck$ RC's not bad. if looking for nice road maners and quality get the RE 3.5 kit. really good stuff.

liked the RE kits but whats wrong with the tuff country kits? just asking here.......
drove an xj with the RE kit and no sway bars, was really stabile, but had no weight
on it, looking to haul 6 to 700 lbs.

I can't speak from experience with an XJ lift, but generally speaking Rough Country lifts don't ride that great. They're exactly as described, rough.

Not to sound like a jerk but good luck finding leafs that don't ride rough but also don't sag quickly with 700 lbs of daily weight on top of them...

My suggestion would be a bastard pack with some dakota leaves. Those are at least made to hold weight.

I roll a 3.5 RE Super Ride with Mono Tubes and basically, I should have put the kit on a LONG time ago.

Rides great. I've netted roughly 4.5 out of the Kit. Under rated IMO

as said, the RE will give you more lift then advertised, but is top quality... and you will need to do something with your leaf packs to help with the weight or you will kill em... maybe some add-on air bags...

You can order Alcans rated for that weight. Is that weight always going to be in the jeep though?

I think a big question for you is what kind of weight are you carrying? The reason I ask is my brother uses his Xj for work as a contractor. For his I used a Rusty's Full AAL and a Rough Country short due to the weight he hauls. It is a little stiff when empty but drives well with a load. Just something to consider.
