planning on lifting my jeep about 1.5-2 inches all the way around going with new coils in the front but the rear im still unsure on. i don't want a block. so im left with a add-a-leaf, a whole new leaf pack, or a shackle relocation kit. what would you recommend/have used?

Assuming it is stock and you want to lift it, I'd go with a new leaf pack. Your existing springs are at least 14 years old (or older) if they are stock.
Don't overlook custom springs from Alcan or Atlas. The cost isn't too bad compared to off the shelf leafs.

My shocks are completely shot so no it's not so great I was looking at add a leafs because I have thought about getting the slider boxes later on down the road

I would take a look at the bolts that hold the rear springs in. Sometimes the bolts seize to the bushing sleeves and are a nightmare to remove. Doing a shackle or spring requires messing with them. An add a leaf does not.

Pretty much every XJ I've seen had some clapped out rear springs. Blocks or shackles just make them worse. AALs are usually pretty stiff. May just have to bite the bullet.
