XJ rear shock relocation

My concern on that kit and they don't show is does it cut into the "frame rail."

@ghost I see what you mean and I sent them a message. I would think the bottom of the flat inner pieces have all those holes for a way to weld to the unibody. I have full length stiffeners so should be a good place to weld but I see your point for sure.

My thoughts too but you never know......

I've thought about doing something similar..... And if your interested I have some fox shocks that would work great outboarded once you move the shock locations up.

@Loganwayne I'm weighing my options right now. If this pans out I'll let you know but I already have Bilsteins that will fit (part of the reason I'm moving the shocks is they are too long in current config). I drive the Jeep regularly so would like to keep the cabin "sealed" up.

The cage is also on the agenda but not sure I'm up to the tube work. I would love to go all in on a buggy but the XJ is nice cause I can use it as a dual purpose ride right now and that fits my current style I guess. Of course next week it may be different lol.

I'm keeping the xj just making it more street friendly taking beadlocks off and getting it aligned better.

I have a bender and tube but I was about to pull the trigger on a kit pre bent just to save time. They have some decent interior and Hybrid cages out there that would make a good starting point.

I have looked around and the reviews of the few kits for an XJ have been less than impressive. What ones have you seen. I'm not impartial to an interior or hybrid either. The most important part is safety.

XJ Hybrid DIY Cage Kit
This is the one I was going to get its not perfect. But with a couple more pieces of tubing you could really stiffen it up. I just looked at the reality of it. My xj isn't going into trails where there is a high chance for an end over end flip. Hard flops yes but nothing where it's a decent chance of a big flip and it would hold up fine I think

I like that one a lot and haven't seen it before. For the money it seems a fair deal. Gonna put it on the tax refund wish list lol
It took some digging to find it lol. I called and talked to.them they are willing to add stuff to the standard I was gonna add another diagonal piece on b pillar to give a full x behind driver

I plan on doing this. Boostwerks has some nice stuff however that is a lot of money for some bent up sheet metal and a fawk ton of body work. Should be able to seal up the holes with some plumbing supplies.

This is actually coming up on my horizon sooner than later. I don't see why the tube hoops won't be adequate for some small 5100 bilsteins. I am going to try and not tie them together with a tube first because I don't want to give up that room but if I start to see cracking I will tie them together.

Are you going to run the hoop through the floor? Or use a flange and bolt through the floor to another flange ? I have seen these as well and agree about the body work but would spend the extra effort to keep the interior sealed up.

Probably going to feed the hoop through the floor. Just make sure the fit is tight and try to seal it up with rubber and rtv stuff.

I have to keep this all sealed until it becomes a trailer queen :)

That is a good price on that hybrid cage kit imho. I would do a hybrid if I were to start on a new xj.
