Yes, a clunk may better describe it. Almost like something solid is loose in a bore & with load it lightly hits. It doesn't sound bad one its running, just that transition while driving down the road. We're thinking of driving it a few hours away & everything to me seems fine just though I'd ask. A loose chain makes the most sense. A bad bearing would always make noise. Is it a vib or a clunk? Maybe slack in transfer case chain. Going from coast to throttle..the torque from motor under throttle my take up slack in transfer case chain causing it to clunk. If chain is stretched badly it will "jump" a tooth on the drive gear. Makes a grinding sound. Does it clunk in 4 low?
