Ok I'm trying to get my XJ running for the flats open invite next Saturday & its looking like I won't have my bb fully installed, I'm getting tires this week no matter what & since I don't have the $$ to buy tires twice. I want to know how much cutting am I going to have to do to clear 31s up front on a stock XJ the rear will have lift shackles installed so that's not a problem. Also since I'm probably going with an AT will o need to do less cutting than your traditional MT. I still have stock wheels if that helps any.

if you want to trim it alot my buddy (t-frady) can cut a mean line with a jigsaw. if you dont think you can trim it.

31s on a stock jeep will fit but will rub. if you leave the sway bars on it wont be as bad.
shackles only give you 2" at most, and its recomenned for 3" and 31's

is it a trail rig only? or is it a DD? mine WAS a dd but i didnt care how it looked. so i trimmed it alot and removed the flares. i was actaully running 32 maxxis bighorns on stock

front BB is a pretty quick and simple job. jack up from frame, remove wheels, loosen trac bar, remove coils, add spacers, repeat in reverse order.
maybe a 2 hour job. done it plenty of times

what year XJ? Even with 3" lift, 31s will rub the front bumper endcap w/ integral flare on the late model XJs. I also had to trim the inner/rear edge of my front flares. In the back, I knocked off a rear flare with 31s, that may have been before I extended the rear bumpstops.

31s with no lift and no trimming will be tight all around. I'd trim the front and cut/fold the rear now. Up front cut just outside the flare, on the rear cut between the spot welds, hammer inward.

It's a 87 the ugly stock flares are already gone its a DD but I don't care about looks to much. I just don't think with me buying tires I'll be able to afford the front spacers this paycheck.

go to the junkyard and grab a few extra coil isolators. they are .75" extra lift each.
thtas how i got the extra lift on my rig

Ok I'll give that a try BTW does anyone know a decent junk yard in WNC?

not familiar with that side. any pull a parts? check their web site and see if they have one close to you..

if i had any extras i'd gve them to you, but i already gave them away

f250 front coils, bastard pack the rear with dakota leafs.. net you about 4" for $100 or less. ran 33's on it, needed major carving. check scrap metal yards near you to see if they sell parts.. Charlie Walker up in hendersonville, Auto Parts of shelby, and charlotte is closest PAP.

I got me 1.5 inch lift shackles for the rear was planning at least a spacer on the front later lift coils. I don't want to go over a 31 with the stock 35 planning a 8.25 or 8.8 stay at a 33 inch tire until I save up for tons & long armed.

Well looks like I got my tire situation almost settled now I need just one more tire & I can see how my Cherokee handles The Flats.

Well after I picked up 3 of the 4 tires I decided to do a lil modification so I could fit my tires. Since I don't have a sawzall or anything to cut with I broke out the trusty hacksaw & got one done real quick.

It only took 10 minutes to do should have all my trimming & tires mounted tomorrow if I can find someone with a 31/10.50/15 BFG AT in stock.
