I have an 89 xj and when I hit the brakes while going over 55mph, the right front tire starts to vibrate violently. I doesn't do it all the time just sometimes at speed and mostly when turning right. Does anyone have any idea what this might be and possibly how to fix it? Thanks, Jon

mine doesn it all the time.....ive just accepted it as part of the xj curse

wheel bearing.

you say wheel bearing.....I say dana 30

i had a 87 yj with the same prob. changed wheel bearing and prob solved. it is a d30 too.

Sounds like the unit bearing. If it is just one wheel, when its the whole front axle then we get into death wobble!

Jack that wheel off the ground, grab it top and bottom and see if you can rock it back and forth. If there's play then the Wheel bearing.

Last I checked they were about $120, and if you've never pulled the axle shaft, go ahead and expect to have a PITA of a time getting the wheel bearing out of the knuckle. do yourself a favor when you go to put it back in. Coat the knuckle where the bearing seats with Anti-Seize. the next time you have to remove that axle shaft it'll be much easier.

i belive thats a cherokee i use to have......check your front sway bar on the pass side....fix it and problem solved. unbit bearings should be good.

LOOK at it. there should only be one bolt holding the bushing on causing it to wiggle every once in a while under a bump or etc. the other bolt is broke in there and will need to be backed out or etc. traded it b4 i fixed it.
