Xterra Flip Anybody?

FWIW, I am planning on doing an external cage in the future to my Grand. I am a big guy (hence the SN ), and I didn't want any less room in the interior.

Im a big guy myself, I ride in my brothers cherokee all the time with a interior cage, any tmie we hit a bump I smash my head on the top and my knees on the supports lol. Hes a much smaller guy and has no issues lol.

wow...messing up a nice car like that. i wish i was imature enough to laugh and have fun with it

Oh he wasn't laughing until after it was over. Take a look at his arms and expression in the vids. He's the kid in the red shirt. You can see his distress. He was scared as hell. I'm pretty sure he was more afraid of his parents than the flop. :p

yea i was freaking out and i realized that it happened and there was nothing i could d about it now. i had made a mistake and had to live with it. wasnt laughing about it. just glad that it wasnt as bad as it could have been and that i was safe and not dead

Lol I hadn't actually listened to the video, usually just mute it, funny to hear kids formulating a plan and pushing it off on the guy who doesn't know his parents to make the phone call. It didn't look too bad considering things and I agree an exo is about pointless at this point unless your about to claim insurance and get it repaired lol, could be done but you would need to lose the videos and such from URE probably. Go interior cage with maybe a exo around the front/engine area if your wanting to have an exo for looks. They aren't cheap to have made just for looks IMO.

yeah im actually repairing the exterior right now. i just dont want there to be any more damage to the body and ive talked to a family friend and he said he could build a hybrid for just the tubing price as long as i help him out. so im not 100% sure which one i want to do yet.

If you want to keep a rig nice DO not wheel it as far as him laughing more power to him to see the funny in a roll that he walked away from. I give him mad props on his out look on it noce to see young people that look at this sport as fun and not as just a way to look kewl at the mall

Thanx Papa Jon. yeah if i didnt want to mess it up i wouldnt have taken it to URE. i would have just left it at home. i bought it cause i wanted to learn to wheel and i have definitely learned what not to do and thats how u sometime have to learn it. u gotta be able to see the light at the darkest of ur times or you will just go crazy. thats how im gonna live this life. my favorite quote basically sums this whole thing up "yesterdays history, tomorrows a mystery, its all about what u do in the day"

How did the flop go down, was it slow, did it flop fast, roll completely over?

i know this is serious and he wants to wheel it but by the videos i saw i see different. grabing onto the winch line during the recovery and hootin and hallorin while kicking out the glass. sure it may be a fun time but cut the crap. i know you paid for all of your xterra but thats way too retarded to have all that damage.

i guess you have a lot of money but if that happened to me i wouldnt want to make this a publicity attraction. a kid at my school had a brand new 2010 camero and totaled it in an intersection right infornt of our school. how awesome do you think he felt? get the picture im trying to lay out

Lol I would've given the kid endless shit, but thats not as bad as the chick I went to school with a few years ago, her dad let her borrow his BRAND NEW GT500 and go out on the weekend, she tried to drive fast, shifted hard (yes she could drive a 5 speed, but used to more of the torque numbers of a honda civic) spun out and totalled the car, she was lucky to be alive after the wreck, much less after dealing with her pops. Looked for pictures from the wreck, I know I have them somewhere. Can't seem to find them but you get the idea. Granted I do not nor have I ever wheeled something worth as much as the Xterra, but at a time like this its best to laugh and live then to be dead and unable to do so. Vehicles can be replaced, but a persons life cannot.

Hell, I remember a chick talking on her cell phone in her senior year heading into school, I was 2 cars behind her pulling toward WGHS to drop off my brother, infront of her was a garbage truck, she not paying attention to the endless stop and go of traffic then ran up under his rear bumper in her Ford Escape and got stuck, possibly the funniest thing I had seen since the truck driver couldnt see her because she was stuck under his bumper and apparently he didn't feel it, so he kept driving and she stuck her little suv in reverse and tried to get unstuck, no luck :D Granted it made my brother late, but it was well worth it.

Oleblue, I understand where your coming from. Its hard see someone tear up something that has as much money in it as that xterra had. I had to pinch every nickel to get my Jeep the way it is now and it has taken years to do so. Then to see a young person tear up a nice rig is a bit upsetting. But the way I see it is if he was cruzing the mall parking lot with it, we would make fun of it, So I give him credit for attempting the to wheel it and have a good attitude about it when it didn't go as planned. He is just new to the sport and has allot to learn, and sometimes you learn the hard way.

I learned from the school of hard knocks too.
I've bent and broke plenty of crap.
Lessons learned:
dont let go of the door when the wind is blowing and you've taken off the hinge straps. (mirror contacts the door first and fast)
dont drink and wheel. (bent DANA 44 axle)
stay off the skinny pedal. (right front fender)
Kodak is no joke. (gas tank skid)
Go slow through deep puddles. (hydrolock)
stay off "show off" rock. (front bumper)
dont wheel URE in the summer with the doors off when the wife needs to drive the Jeep to work that night. (I cleanded everything as best I could, she gets in with her white scrubs on (nurse) and turns on the AC.... POOOF!!! dust/dirt cloud)
many more...
you live and learn...
