finally got my lockers for my CJ, Lock-Right front and rear...finally gonna be able to actually do some wheelin with a lot less worry of having to use a winch lol
I live on Upper Stanley Rd. I think I talked to you at the NAPA one time. I have the tan TJ with black flatties. If it wasn't you, then I'm mistaken. I'm only 5 minutes from you, so if you get into a bind and need an hand, I'll see if I can help out.
I was wondering if you'd ever find your way on here. I've seen you pretty much all over the place in your CJ. Did you ever get the death wobble situation figured out?
yea sure did, got my front end lined up and tightened and it didnt fix it so I just took a quick gander at it and noticed the lock washer on my pitman arm was gone lol must not have replaced it after I put my lift on, so, got a me a new one and havent had trouble since
Hey Seth, Matt Kelly here. Glad you gotcha some lockers. Did you get the rear installed yet? Let me know if you need any tools or help, I may swing by on the way home from work tomorrow if you are gonna be around.
hey matt whats up, I figured how everything goes but i am encountering a problem...the axle shaft that I loosened to get the side gears out...the coupler for hte locker wont go on it more than about 1 cm...so i tooke the shaft completely out and thought about wirebrushing it clean cause I noticed some gunk on the side gear when i took it off of it
Seth, clean the splines. Just for s&g's, try the side gear on the other shaft and see what happens. I doubt the gear is machined wrong, but it'll help narrow things down a little. There's probably a simple explanation to the problem.
splines cleaned and all shiny with no scuffs at all, i tried both couplers on the other side and they slip on like butter, then try both couplers on the shaft im having trouble with and neither work
Is the end of the shaft mushroomed a little. I suppose you could use calipers and measure both shafts at the splines to make sure they're the same, but they probably are. I'd go with the mushroomed theory. If you have a dremel, work the very ends of the splines down a tad and see what happens. Without seeing it, I'm now .
k willness sounds good, ill try the dremel option, PM me your # and ill PM u mine and I can meet you and show you the axleshaft and problem so you can have a better look at it
