Anyone been hit by one of these recently?

I haven't been stung by a bee in probably a decade, but accidentally ran over a nest yesterday with the lawn mower and had one sting me on my calf. Worst part was I missed him with my swat, so he lived to fight another day. Growing up I never had as much as an itch after a bee sting, but it's been nearly 24 hours and my calf still hurts (about a 3" diameter of pain).

Crazy.

I seem to get stung by everything that has wings and a stinger. Red wasps are my least favorite. If you can catch it quickly, put some wet tobacco over the sting and hold pressure for a few minutes. Sooner the better. I keep a can of old can of Copenhagen in my boat just for this.

I got stung three times on my leg over the weekend. One got in the shop while I was working and got me three times before I killed him.

I've been stung so many times my body must be immune to them, it just looked like a little mosquito bite.

You are lucky if you only got stung once. I'm almost as good at finding yellow jackets as they are at finding me. I usually get hit at least 5 times, but there have been many occasions where i've been stung 20-30 times. Theres nothing you can do to make it better except try not to scratch it and make sure the stinger isn't still embedded (best way to do that is just scratch the hell out of it till it bleeds :p).

Seriously, try wet tobacco. It works! Nicotine in wet tobacco causes small muscle spasms at the sting site and slowly "draws" the foreign body out. 5 minutes of holding pressure to the sting it will take it right on out like it never happened.

It's true. My grandma used to put RedMan tobacco on my stings and it really worked.

Some Yellow jackets have more poison than others. I had about a dozen sting my legs at once that felt like mosquito bites and not much swelling or long lasting/itching welts. I've also had some that hurt as bad as any Wasp or Bee, a zap like an electric shock and a lot of swelling and lingering discomfort for days.

Yep, it felt like an electric shock when it stung. No swelling though, no bump, no real redness, but some serious pain and what feel like internal bruising. Feels like I got smacked with an aluminum bat. Kerosene comes out this evening to re-engage.

I walked over a nest about 5 years ago and got stung 13 times before I ran and got in the house. I had mild breathing difficulty later. I guess I got a bit too much of the poison in my system.

I've had allergic reactions to Bee,Wasp,YJs, Hornet and Fire ant stings, swollen lips, eyes, tight chest and throat, bad headache like my temples are in a vice and major swelling at the stings, it seems to get worse w age w me. I always keep some Benadryl handy and take 2 or 3 ASAP after anything gets me anymore. The tobacco remedy does work, I've used it for years though it's not practical when your stung all over!!

I am one of the rush me to the hospital guys if I get stung, I think it stems from being a kid and one of the other neighborhood kids dared me to ride down this trail. He knew there was a bees nest and I ran right over it. They were tangled in my hair, I got stung lots and lots of time. I've been really really lucky in my adult life to avoid being stung. I think I am at like twice total.
This year I notice though, everything that stings me I have a terrible reaction to. Mosquitoes, ticks and I think my stupid dog got fleas. Either way I have easily 15 spots on my body right now that are red as big around as a quarter, with a pencil eraser sized red center that oozes if I scratch it. Fantastic for a guy who is in the woods or fishing more often than he isn't.......

Got stung by 3 Japanese hornets one summer day. I didn't think my epipen and 4 benedryl were going to work. Laid on the couch and shook uncontrollably for at least 30 minutes and finally started breathing better. That was a little scary

I never had allergic reactions, one day 2 years ago got stung by one bald faced hornet and my entire hand turned red and puffed up after a day, would not go down. Ended up in er at midnight. After steroids and antibiotics it went down about 5 says later. Same thing last year, stung on chest and got a swollen itchy red mark that stayed for days. Never reacted to any other sting or bite.

I was stung in the palm by an European hornet in the 80s while surveying and my hand looked the same in 10 mins. It swelled so bad my hand looked like a clown glove. When it stung me I swiped/slapped at it w my other hand as I ran like the wind anticipating more attacks....twice, the first time it was still there, stuck to my hand w it's clawed legs, the second time I removed it by scraping it off w my fingers, but it still felt like a burning electric shock. I stopped running and looked to see the enormous stinger and the poison sac still stuck in my hand and the sac was pulsating still pumping the poison and I finally removed it. It hurt unbelievably bad, I think it would have felt better If I was shot through my hand w a .357. That was the first time I had a reaction w tight chest, throat and headache. Ever since then If I get stung more than 2 times at once I have a reaction and it seems to get worse w age. I believe every time you are stung you loose some of your defense and become more prone to allergic reactions, it seems to be true for me.
