We are looking at doing an axle swap to run 37's. I know that I would need DS drop. I am trying to figure out the easiest solution. I am thinking Waggy axles but I don't know which years are the best. We could also run Ford 44 front 9" rear but I am trying to figure out which year had the weld on Wedges and which were cast. The plan is to do a spring over with anti-wrap bar in the rear. So I guess the question is which year waggy axles are easiest to use, and which year Ford axles had the weld on perches? I will continue searching as I try to find my answers. Thanks

it depends on whether you want to be fullwidth or not... waggy axles will be basically the same width you are now, ford's will be wider....

waggy axles are 1980 and up, a few years were vac.disco, but cant member which ones...

ford d44 were weld on wedges from 75-77, and cast from 78-79 IIRC...

with a SOA on either of these you should be able to run 37s depending on how much cutting is done and what not...

The plan was SOA with trimmed front and rear and 2" lift shakles and 2 " lift springs. Might end up using a set of stock shakles but he has the lift ones now. Thanks again

I got a 44 and 9 from broncomania and am willing to sell them cause im not gonna use them anymore!
they are weld on wedges with discs and HP.
PM me if your interested.

A few more details on the Wag axles...
80-up are all DS drop D44 front
80-early 86 have a AMC20 rear w/1-pc shafts, late 86-91 have a D44 rear
83/84 watch out for the vacuum disco front
Concerning track width... narrow track Wag are about the same width as YJ front and rear, wide track Cheros have the NT rear but the front is 4" wider, J-trucks have the WT front with a wider rear

The problem is we don't want the cast wedges. Do the broncos have cast or weld on wedges? I haven't looked but I thought they were the same as F150. Are they the same width as the 150's? We need to be able to strip off the wedges and use spring perches for the leafs in his YJ.

well i would have to check its not mine..i'm more of a 14b/d60 kinda guy :)

its a lady from wilmington who has a 78 bronco shes trying to get rid of complete for $400 i know i can get her down to $200 maybe even less i think the city wants it gone anyway i figured it may be worth it since your in jacksonville to scoop up the whole thing..i have no place for it and i have enough non-working things right now..

Do you want me to get the whole thing? Then I can just tow it back up here since it is close. Let me know

:) that's what i'm saying i'll give you her phone # if you want it.. and it seems like it would fit the bill as a solid donor, but like i said as of right now she said $400 but she will definitely let it go cheaper probably $200 maybe even cheaper, she seems to be a very motivated seller..
