ive been having this problem for awhile...one second the pedal would be nice and firm...next the pedal just hits the floor when i try and stop...thought it was my old mc not getting enough fluid tothe wj calipers so i just recently swapped it out with onefrom a 99 Durrango(1&1/8 bore). now the pedal is even better but still randomly hits the floor...ive bled and bled but it still randomly happens... couldit bethe proportioning valve(stock one).. im running the8.8 with discs on the rear, wj calipers(akebono) on the front, and now the 99 durrango mc.. please help bc im starting to get stumped... cannot see any leaks anywhere.

Check your rubber lines for expansion. If they are bad it will give you the soft pedal. Have you checked for leaks throughout the entire system.

Check for excessive wheel bearing play. If there's a lot of movement the rotors could be pushing the caliper back when you hit bumps, cornering, etc. Then the first brake application has to push the piston back out. I've seen this before on a fwd car. Also if you have drums in the back, pull them off and look for broke or missing springs, and adjust the brakes.

have you relocated shocks, etc.? If your shocks are too close to the calipers and you turn and hit the shock, it will compress the pistons and you will loose brakes for a bit. I ask because I've experienced that. I was puzzled for a while about it too...

Had that happen twice, on trails, but didn't make it to the floor. 1st.,time, scared the poop, out of me. Second time, got me thinking, a piston, is getting stuck, or compressed. haven't had much time to check it out.
