Ugh!! Someone please light my jeep on fire. I'm gonna rip the wiring out and hang myself with it. It has been killing me slowly. As soon as I fix one short or wiring issue something else gets fried or shorts out.

So on to my new problem. After wiggling and testing almost every connection I found my battery draining short. Replaced the alternator and battery. I now have a nice six pac.

Now my break lights and dash lights are not functioning. I've checked the switch by the break pedal and I am going to replace it anyway. Couldn't hurt right? Bulbs are ok and all other rear lights work. My dash light rheostat will turn on the aux'lights under the dash, but the dash stays dark. I had recently replaced the headlight switch next to it and it works fine.

What I'm looking for might be a miracle. I have a Haynes manual which has nothing concerning my electical under the dash. Does anyone have a copy of the electrical diagram? Specifically the main distribution box to the left of the steering colomn.

Thanks for any help.

so i tested the rheostat and it is working fine. the brake switch by the brake pedal also seems to have conductivity. the harness that plugs into the dash rheostat has a constant and a switched power source. that short must be downstream. the wires then go to the main bundle. the brake harness does not have power to the plug on any terminal. my wiring diagram has no detail at all for the brake curcuit.

going to URE on Tuesday so i need brake lights anybody know of a short term fix?

so took the wiring harness out and of the firewall, cleaned it up and reinstalled it. the dash lights are now working. not sure where the short was. on the fuse block at the bottom there is a small black box that plugs into it. keep in mind it is a '94 YJ and the fuse block it actually 180 degrees (upside down) compared to a '95. opposite the warning/turn flashers. i can't find any specific reference to this box. it looks like a relay but is twice the size.

thanks
Ed

Pay for the subscription to alldatadiy.com for your 94 Wrangler. I have it for my 2000 TJ daily driver and it paid for itself the first time I used it. It has way more electrical schematics than a Haynes manual.
