Brother in laws Jeep YJ. It was a 5spd at one point in time (has clutch pedal zip tied up in the dash). Previous owner converted it to a automatic. Now the transmission is messing up and he wants to go back to a 5spd like factory.

Where would be a good place to source the transmission and parts? What parts should he need to complete the swap? I was thinking tranny, linkages, bellhousing, clutch kit etc. Currently his auto has cooler lines run to the radiator, I'm assuming those dont get moved to the manual transmission so he will need a new radiator. What about the transfer case does the one thats in it work with the 5spd or is there no way to know without seeing it?

He won't need a new radiator, just cap the lines.

Get the trans from a member or a yard. I've got a flywheel, clutch, plate, master and internal slave for a 4.0. I've got a ax15 core but it's fubared.

Yes, it will probably be cheaper to fix what he's got rather than change it all up. Not to mention the time involved in making those changes happen. Little details will be the time consuming portion. I just converted a xj manual that was an auto back to an auto, and the shift linkage for TC differs, cross member, drive shafts, plus wiring/ECM. Plus shifter boot, silly details like that take a surprising amount of resources to get perfect.

Shoot, I've got a tf999 out of a 87 yj 4.2 if that's what motor he has in it,( needs front pump seal or bushing, not sure which or both, hadn't pulled it yet)
