My guages are acting up. Motor runs at 190, temp guages says 230-240. Prob just install a mechanical guage and be done with it.

Second issue is during the day guages "work" fine. At night if i turn my headlights on all the guages spike and stop working. They all go to the right (ie fuel is full, temp 260, volts 18 etc). When I turn the headlights off everything goes back to normal.

I guess I just want to know if anyone else has had these troubles and if so whats is going on?

my oil guage is fawked as we type. I want to put mechanical guages in where the junk stock ones are

Yea I've already put the mechanical oil gauge in, works great! I'm probably gonna just save up and rip this stock stuff out if I can't get it fixed.

Printed circuit

YJ's come with a gauge cluster that has a printed circuit. If you take out the cluster, you'll see what I mean. At every contact point, (where the gauge contacts the printed circuit) you remove the gauge & use an eraser on the end of a pencil to clean it. This will prolly get most of them working again. As far as the whole cluster cutting out when the headlights come on, is another problem altogether. My suggestion here would to be, contact "Junk Yard Genius" You can google the name or find him here on the CJ forum; http://www.jeepsunlimited.com/forums/index.php this dude knows lots about electrical stuff!
