my brother just bought a completely stock 95 yj. he wants to lift it a little to fit 31's, i figured either a body lift or add-a-leafs and shackles. i hate body lifts but he may have to do that (he is running on a budget with no job), i was wondering if a 2 inch body is enough to clear 31's without rubbing, and also if a 2 inch add a leaf is enough to clear them. if anyone has done one or the other let me know if you liked it.

the easiest thing to do is shackle lift it. you don't need but about 1 1/2 to 2 inches to clear 31/10.5/15, cost about $100. the worst thing is cutting the stock shackle bolts out of the back because they are assembled from the inside before the gas tank is installed.

extreme machines in hickory , BDS brand, they have 2"

i would def. stay away from just a shackle lift alone. fazer, i agree its pretty cheap, and easy, but...they will kill a stock spring pack, and with a 2" shackle, your only getting about half of that in lift.

if he should ever venture off-road, the "fangs" will catch everything in there path. if he just wants the tires, and isnt doing anything more than some mud holes,
31's will fit stock on a yj, with an 8" rim, with standard backspacing. you might have some rubbage if you load the back of it down, but you cant put that much in the back of a wrangler anyway.

having been there before, if i were to do it all over again, i would go with an add-a-leaf, then you can have your lift, and not have to cut the bolts for the shackle out b/c of the gas tank skid being in the way in the rear.

should be good to go after that

hope this helps
