It's a 95 YJ and I have no key. I'm fastly approaching time to drive the Jeep or atleast move it. The steering column is currently locked. I know there's the dealership duplicate key route but what's some other ideas? If I got lucky enough to find a GM style column in an XJ or better yet an older GM vehicle with key, and can pull the whole cylinder will it interchange? I'm not worried about locking doors at all, just cranking it.

You will have to be able to turn the cylinder to get it out. My 95 yj key actually worked perfectly in a friend's 92 yj. If yours is a little worn out (witch I am sure it is) you can problem get lucky and barrow a friend's key and wiggle it and make it work....

You can remove the lock cylinder without a key. You drill out the retaining pin or take a half inch bit and drill out the lock guts.
