Ok so I just picked up a 95 yj 4cyl, 5spd with about 120k on the clock. Its running 35" MT claws right now and I have like 2" of clearance before I start rubbing. I have absolutely no flex and its on stock axles. I may take it wheelin once a month or 2 months. I really don't wanna get into the money aspect of changing axles so am I best stepping down to 33"s and maybe some revolvers? suggestions? Sorry Im a tj guy and this it out of the box for me

If it was me I would go to a 33" tire if I was not going to swap axles.

Don't get me wrong. I like the thought of 35"s but I hear nightmares about axle budgets. I've got 2 kids and a nagging wife that Ive gotta wear down first unless someone has a someone budget oriented swap idea

Sell the yj for 5K or more and build an xj with 33's and take the whole family and gear wheeling!

I say put on some 33s and maybe some rear alloy shafts

If it's gonna be a light wheeler. Stick some 32" BFG mud terrains on it, find a spare rear D35 or atleast some shafts and wheel the piss out of it. You will break it...someday. But you can pick up spare D35's for less than $100 or even free...carry spares and the tools needed to do a trail fix and go.

That might actually piss the wife off since I bought it saturday lol. But I got it for around 4 so I'm happy. Think the 33"s and just throw in some moser shafts. I think if I do the revolvers I'll loose about an " of lift and maybe if I actually get some flex my dl angles wont be so crappy.

I have stock axles sort of and 33" tires with my YJ. It works out great. I did upgrade my rear axle though to the super 35 kit very expensive and not worth it.

With the 4 cyl you will be surprised how long those stock axles may last with a non aggresive driving style. I say 35" tires and a 1" body lift if there is not one on it would give you more clearance. I would not go any bigger then 1" though because I think they look funny when they get any bigger then that. (yes I think mine looks funny cause I have a 3" body lift that is gettting ready to go bye bye)

I would also suggest stepping odwn to 33's if you are not going to upgrade your rear axle. They added room for flex will be a plus too
