First. What kit or method have you guys sorced to mount the rear shackle outboard of the rear cross member?

I aquired some xj rear springs. I also have 4 inch rough country springs. Jeep has a 2 inch body lift.

Still on the fence for this much extension. Hanging the rear shackle, fuel tank rework and the look.
I want a very streetable rig in the end. Four link isn't out of the question but I would not spend for coil overs on this rig. ORI's maybe. Cheaper is King.

End goal lowest height for 35 to 38 inch tires. Fender trimming is ok but I dislike the full rear comp cut corners.
All things aside cheaper is better on this build.
I have built spring overs and out board hanger configurations for full withds.Just not this type of extension.

Somebody talk me out of either or?? Net lift ect. ?

These are about all I have found. Anybody got other options.

No feed back? No lift height advice? No this crap sucks?

I did find some builder bushing part from Barnes I like.

Any body got good rear pics on 35 and wheelbase extension......?

There are multiple vendors that sell the above hangers, or you can even buy a kit that includes a new rear crossmember/bumper.

XJ rears backwards are a lot of stretch & puts the tire at the back of the tub. Hence all the comp cuts with it. It also causes a ton of wrap, when soa. You will kill the leaves off-road too without building a hybrid pack.

Lift is mostly going to be determined by the front axle. If I were doing that tire size and keeping half ton axles, I'd do waggy leaves f&r, sua. Maybe do +1-2" perches for a little more wb. That or linked.

Gas tank is going to determine the stretch in the rear.

From my experience, 2.0 coilovers are cheaper than ORIs, unless you factor in tuning cost.

Are the wagoneer leaves mostly stock when folks use them?
Hard to find me thinks?
After market equivalent like Deaver maybe?

I really started doubting going the xj route after reading about everybody having spring wrap issues and pushing the shackles outside the rear. Initially I kinda dug it. After some thought .

Ori or links are my last resort. Not the build I want. Looking more toward stockish sleeper requiring smart line choices and some opperator bounderies.

The last CJ I help build did well on yj springs and a Rancho add a leaf. Some wrap. But acceptable given the build type.

BTW front will retain some type of steering box on high steer Reid knuckles. Spring combo needs to retain this aspect.

I used a Barnes 4wd tail plate and welded shackle bushings to it, using the D ring tabs as a gusset. Then moved the spring hangers back 6.5" on the frame and reused my YJ leaves. Staying SUA with military wrap leaves cuts down on the spring wrap. Lost all my pictures from when I streched it, can get new pictures if you'd like.

YJ Rear Tail Plate Bumper

DOM Sleeve & Poly Bushing

Heavy Duty Leaf Spring Hanger Pair

This is on 35s. Most people don't notice it's been stretched because of the corner armor.

@jankoid this is the stuff I'm looking for.
Full cell in rear?
Did you extend the front?
Do you notice hanging the shackles up?

I like the rear not fully comp cut.

Thanks for the pics and build info. I don't have any stock leaves. The jeep came with a rough country lift installed. I need to run the spring numbers I was told it was a 4 inch.

RCI full cell in the cab. Front is in the stock location still. Shackles don't hang up any more than at stock wheelbase.

This stretch was done with the 3" lift YJ springs that were already on the Jeep. If you're happy with the springs you have now you can keep them and just move all of the mounts back the way I did. It gives about the same amount of stretch as the reversed XJ springs. Like @paradisePWoffrd said, you'll get a ton of axle wrap running XJ springs SOA. YJ springs SUA have much less axle wrap, but they don't give as much flex.

You can find and rebuild stock waggys or use rancho 44044s. They should give you ~4" lift sua.

I've used rear yota leaves in them, but they are soft and need extra leafs.

@paradisePWoffrd. I have researched the Rancho leaves you are talking about. Really like Rancho stuff. We used their brand leaves to help correct YJ spring wrap before.

This thing will run a hard top and be loaded with gear in the winter for trail truck camping.
8274 warn on the front, spares and gear. Maybe towing an off road dedicated trailer and kayaks.

More I digest this the more I don't want XJ springs.

The downsides to long flexy leaves are axle wrap, and being soft. SUA helps wrap. Could run airbags in the rear for the loaded trips. Could even do a cantilever mount if you need more travel.

I have seen a few people run a 4 inch xj lift spring SUA in rear which is much stiffer than a stock xj and better for axle wrap.
I really like the Motobilt kit Jeep YJ Wheelbase Stretch Kit
Previous owner of my jeep made some bolt on brackets to stretch my jeep. I like them, but they could be improved. They have always sketched me out, but have never failed.
I agree with not doing a full comp cut.

I have stock waggy springs SUA on my YJ with 1" shackle lift and 1" body. The waggy springs do take some searching to find, but with some patience its not too bad. They ride really well compared to my old rough country and make the jeep feel much more stable on obstacles.
You will have issues with high steer though, unless you push out the steering box. As far as the gas tank, all you need to do is the dimple mod and be done.
Pics below for reference (35" tires).
