yj roll cage removal

do i need a special bit to take out the bolt thats on the top of both the spreader bars that go to the windshield? It looks like a regular torx bit would fit, however the bolt has a little pin that sticks up in the middle, so i cant fit a torx bit in.

You need a "Tamper Proof" torx bit. A local parts or supply store should be able to find a set for you.

yep a torx with tamperproof dumbest thing they come up with just something to make you have to buy another tool, you can get them at autozone or about anywhere they sell tools

yeah break it with a flat head or a punch or get a pipe wrench or vise grips

haha I used a air hammer.... with about 75% of mine... Make sure they fit nice and snug

You get a pipe wrench and twist it out low tech but works great!

if you are doing a custom cage i would take those windshield bars off your hands for the right price...if you didn't have to destroy them to remove the torx bolts.
