i have read a 1000 threads and out of that i have gotten 500 different opinions.
getting ready to soa a yj and weighing all my options for steering. this will be 50/50 trail/dd so it must remain safe at highway speeds.
i am going to save everyone the time of telling me, i am staying with the 30 upfront for now. i will be running no more than 35's.
i have seen the jb4x4 bracket(http://www.jb4x4.com/store/jbrsb.htm)
btf also makes one (http://www.bluetorchfab.com/Product/981/BTF-Cross-Over-Steering-Bracket-for-Dana-30-44-Knuckle.aspx) but it's made to run hiems, and i would prefer to run tre's on something being road driven.
there are also complete systems made from several manufacturers, would i be better off with one of those?

i would prefer first hand knowledge
do any of our vendors make comparable kits?

thanks in advance.

I would swap the knuckles out for a set of WJ knuckles. It would give you better brakes, and a higher mount for the drag link. Its a bit of work with having to clearance rotors to fit and weld in the bearing spacers. If I were building a YJ again with a 30 front, its the route I would go.

2nd hand:
I helped a friend w/soa and left the stock steering and had no problems. I wouldn't invest anything in a 30.

I have a teraflex highsteer for a D30 Im selling. My buddy has one on his yj and it works great. PM me if you're interested

Sent from my sprint GS3, which is amazing because that means I actually have signal.

The IRO WJ kit works great. I just put one on my woman's XJ.

im running the wj setup with my yj and its awesome.. i just upgraded the brake master cylinder to one from a durrango too

You are driving a jeep, squeeks and rattles should be expected. Haha

I put heims on almost every steering setup I do and I've yet to have one make noise unless its wore slap out. Using quality parts and keeping them clean is important.

Jb4x4.......i have personally beat the shit out of mine on a regular basis, works great, must have for soa, good price too

I run TRE, I know lots of guys running heims with no issue, I just run TRE so if I break one anywhere I can still go to parts store, but if you bring extras its a non issue. The JB4x4 kit will greatly reduce bump steer

When i had a YJ/CJ i used a 2.5" J20 steering box, it worked fine with my 38" and 1ton, axle. NO assist.....
The biggest part is know how far, or how much, the tires are set back.
For me i had a 4" back spacing (8" wide rim)
So, what i'm saying is, your probable fine with whatever you like for links for the TRE.
Just watch the setback on your wheels, and let her roll..............

Now i have 35" tires and a 2" astro steering box, and it totaly fine, but......

If your a slow poke and like to turn the wheel back and forth (lock/lock) while driving a foot.
OR
have a 3" spacer on each wheel then with your 35" tires
disregard the above,
maybe you need an assist..... :)
