alright guys, i've ridden on leaf springs for a few years now and want something different and better riding, i'm currently have 4" rough country lift, w/ front shackle reversal and 1" bomerang's in the rear w/ nitro shocks. i toyed w/ the procomp bolt on coil spring kit, did reading and heard various times it was crap, so maybe a 3 link/ 4 link combo??? w/ coil overs??? who around here does this at a reasonable price, i read that i could probably do that cheaper than i could order the procomp crap for... ideas? suggestions??? i know nothing about link set-up's always been a leaf sprung country boy. and anybody out there available to give estimates... i'll be doing this in the fall if my current job line up works out, it'll be my reward for finishing my accademy

yeah ive did some .. if you wanna make it easy on yourself use the BTF kit .. kinda pricey but its nice

I have the BTF kit and XJ springs in the rear of mine. It gave me about 6 inches of stretch. The flex however, I found disappointing. Dont get me wrong it flexes ok, but I expected more, so Im in the process of 3 linking the rear and keeping the front SOA. Talk to Alex at Carolina Truggies. He does many 3/4 links and can do it custom for your application.

The BTF kit is nice, the only down side is the shackle angle. Without doing some heavy mods there's nothing you can do using their kit to give it more angle. If you could give the shackles about 20 degrees more angle it would flex a lot more. Dollar to dollar and flex to flex its hard to beat the results of XJ springs in the rear. But don't forget that you NEED a track bar in the rear.
A simple spring over with good shocks should do just fine for you.

i'm thinking i will sell the lift springs and shocks at the point and buy some new factory leafs or maybe some ome or something that same height, been reading on how to do soa yourself and thinking about me and some guys attacking it and going all the way, w/ bl shackles and soa i'll have 5 or so in the soa, 1" bl, 1" or maybe a bit more w/ shackles so 7-8 inches all together, any more suggestions guys???

well i was running the 1" bl to fix a frame problem, the nutserts in the frame rail that hold the t-case tranny skid/crossmember well 2 of them are spun free, plan was to pop them out and bolt throught the top of the frame w/ the 1" of clearance. i have tried to put in new nutserts but the first one pulled out and the second isn't crimping right inside, the bl is kinda a fix for that... but if there is another way...??? and what are most guys doing for steering angle stuff??? i've been reading hard on soa so i'm hoping i'm getting up on the game.

Cant help you about the frame problem, but as far as steering goes, Im running a stock setup with much beefier tie rod and drag link. I just put on an extended pitman arm for a 4 inch lift kit. It actually works really well, but just barely clears the diff cover. If you have the cash, i strongly recommend going for Hi-steer or even hydro. Whenever I get the cash, Ill be going for Hydro....and a cage, and an atlas, and a v8.....it never ends.

Honestly, that says a BUNCH about the rough ride you're getting! Nobody's ever equated RC with "smooth", "supple", or "flexy"...

I know this is off topic of this thread I just wanted to put my .02 in on RC lifts.

I don't know about leaf lifts made by RC but I have a TJ and put the RC 4" flex lift in it and I have no complains about the ride and it really seems to flex excellant as long as disconnect the sway bars.

yeah i have put on 2 rc lifts on tj's and they ride acutally rather well, i think a shock switch might help mine but i want a change... and no arched leaf spring will ride as good as a flatter one because of the angles and stuff holding the ride height...
