I agree and disagree, 350 will require a bellhouing adapter or a different tranny, AMC V8 will have the same bellhousing bolt pattern and bolt right up to the AX-15.
Parts for the 350 are generally easier to find and cheaper though. But there are parts available for the AMC motors and they can be made into strong runners

For 350 swap stuff look at www.novak-adapt.com or www.advanceadapters.com

My $.02, drop a 4.0 in it and call it done

You might want to look into NC's smog laws before you go and drop an older motor in your newer YJ...

I just did a 360 swap in my cj, and it's a really simple, straightforward swap. Shouldn't be too much harder in your YJ

The emissions laws are going to be a lot easier next year so plan on getting an inspection just before the swap. An inspection official I spoke with said they have a "book" describing what emission devices each engine should have. But I also believe you should look for an engine newer than your Jeep. I can never get the real answer on this though. They always say call Raleigh.

Engine swap

I have a GM drive train for sale. Chevy 350, trans and transfer, you will need to get axles or buy the conversion kit to use your transfer case. A chevy transfer is going to drop on the wrong side. To drop in a 350, you will need to get a engine mount conversion kit. You can either weld them in, or buy a bolt in adapter. I am doing mine as we speak.

PM me if you want more info.

Sale it an buy one already converted, or the hell with beer you
will need liquor, an bolting a sb chevy to a ax15 is pissing good
money away. An who ever mentioned emissions is dead on,
when i lived in NC the vehicle had to have o.e.m. equipment
unless you new someone who would look the other way an
take the chance on a $10,000 fine.

Its all according to what county in nc you live in ..some countys have emossion laws in nc
And some do not . But to get back to subject ..if it were me doing a v8 swap id go with a sbc !

I done a sbc swap im my 92 yj with 350 turbo tranny and np 205 their was plenty of room for it all to fit !

My yj has a built SBC with a th350 an a d300 but I did go psd with Chevy axles. U could also do a d300 with a flip and mate to ur d30 front. Gives u alot longer rear shaft as well

U use a 700r4 to np208 adapter (came in mid to late 80's chevys) but will need a stub shaft or a output shaft for the th350. Its easy to do

For $500 u could get a d300 flip it and chance shaft in th350 and just maybe have enough for a tank of gas. Plus alot lo ger rear shaft which with the v8 will be a huge step forward
