On my yota (86 4Runner) I some how have dent my front shocks with my bump stops, I figure I did it wheelin but not sure. I know it wasn't like that a few weeks ago. My question is if this has happened to anybody else. Then what did you do to fix it. I planned on just cuttin the front bump stop off, I can see why there are two but from what I can see it shouldn't make a difference. If a picture is needed to clarify I can post one up tomorrow. Any help is welcome, thanks

Chris

Pics please, not sure how the bump stop hit the shock. I don't think I'd cut the bump stop off or you'll bottom out the shock and ruin it. (As well as other stuff).

Here's the pics. There is another bump stop on the back side of the lower control arm.

These are from straight on, not sure why there is so little clearance but you can see on the lower part of the shock where it made it's own:(

The DB lift has changed the geometry of your front suspension. Take a sawzall to those bumpstops. They are too far from the lower A arm to do anything anyways. There should have been extensions with the lift kit to move the bump pad down. Just cut them off.

The lift was put on by the owner before me, but thanks for the help. Guess I know what I'm doing tomorrow in shop.

X2 I had similar drop bracket lift on my 89. My bump stops had the extensions but they were constantly being bent over and hitting the shock. I cured that problem with a SAS.

Hopefully a sas will be over the summer, right now though i need lockers and 5.71 gears a little bit more.

just keep in mind, if you really do intend to do a front locker and 5.71 gears (you must be running really big tires to warrant that gearing!), the money spent on front locker and gear will be totally lost when you replace the front for the SAS.

E.g. in the long run, if you really want to SAS, you'll save a ton of $$ if you do that first.

Thats been my self debate, I plan on 38's. But my consern was all the ifs stuff breaking. I've done the math for the gear and it'll work with a 38 but anything smaller and you'll want to say about 50 anywhere you go. I'm basically in a planning phase, I have nothing but time to plan my build for my truck. Any advice is welcome, I'm young and take in stuff like a sponge. I'll admit I know alot and can do alot than most but I still have alot of things I need to learn.

I havent seen any real wheelin rigs running 5.71 gears. I have heard they are not as strong as the 5.29s
