The only thing I want to add, dogs of any breed make horrible security devices. Anyone who comes onto your property to cause you harm will not be unarmed. They will most likely be willing to hurt humans, as we have established they are there to do you harm, you can assure yourself they will care less about a dog than they do about you.
So lets recap.
People who mean harm will be armed.
People who do not mean harm may or may not be armed but the chance or being armed is drastically lower statistically.
If the dog attacks people who mean harm the dog will most likely be dead.
If the dog attacks people who do not mean harm the dog will most likely hurt the victim.
Great logic there.
