We are renting e-bikes on an upcoming trip. Got the liability waiver and rental agreement in email today.

Fees for damages are pretty understandable:

eBIKE -- $2,000 Battery $500 Handlebar $300 Basket $50 Column $120 Wheel or tire $90 Lights (each) $25 Wheel Covers $18 Fenders $100 Remote Key w/ HMI $280 Steering Column $125 Helmet $35 Etc....

EXCEPT...when you read the fine print further on down: (bold emphasis mine)

Participant agrees to return the eBike in the same condition as received, except for ordinary wear and tear (which does not include flat tires)

I can understand paying $90 for a tire if I yeet it off a cliff. But I don't like the potential of getting stuck with a $90 fee if I get a flat because you haven't swapped a tube all year, or the previous renter yeeted off a cliff and it finally lets go on me. Seems to me like getting a flat on a bike is just the cost of doing business.

I'll be calling a few other rental places tomorrow and seeing what their policy is.
