yz 250 tranny problems

Bought a yz 250 with the tranny locked up took a rubber mallet and tapped the shifter and unlocked it but when i took it apart everything looked ok? Any idea what i should be looking for? thanks

bent shift fork.

whats a way of check to see or can you just look and tell?

you have to tear it down and split the cases.
