zero turn mower opinion

Zero turn makes it hard to drink beer while mowing. That's all I have.lol
Naaaa. Can still steer with one hand and operate with the other. My scars cupholder only holds beer....no cups fit.

Scag......damn autocorrect

I did a ton of research and ended up with a 50” toro with the kawi motor. Really happy with my choice. Bought it mid summer

I was looking at ariens as well. I can’t remembered 100% what they were but but there were a few things I liked more with the toro

any thoughts on an Ariens Apex 52" with Kawasaki motor.. same plate form as the gravely zt hd.. thanks.

I have one. Good mower, plenty of power. Welded heavy deck rather than the stamped shot. Seems built well. 2 complaints after 2 seasons. 1) oil drain mechanism on motor can be leaky. Creates a messy underside of engine area. Doesn’t leak enough for engine issue just messy. The drain tube is some kind of bullshit turn petcock deal rather than a normal plug. Typical home user shit to avoid need for tools I guess. Issue 2 is the drive tires are just too small. Any wetness to the ground and it spins. Also slides the inside turn side easily (more easily than it should) and can tear up lawn. You can learn to avoid that. For the price and well built construction it’s a good mower. I would buy it again but it’s not a perfect mower. Perfect costs a few more thousand $$$.

No issues other than what I stated. Just answering your inquiry not lobbying for you to purchase one. Lots of choices out there.

I recently bought a cub cadet zt1 50". No ragerts

I've got a 52" Ariens with the Kawasaki motor. No complaints and no problems so far. It sure cuts the grass faster than my old 54" riding mower.

After 8 years of service my Troy bilt 50 inch zero turn finally wore out the drive tires enough to justify buying new ones. I got a set of ATV tires the correct size an i am amazed at how well they work--holds a side hill 100% better and rides a little smother too. This has been a great mower and other than regular service / battery and blades has been trouble free. We have a 61 inch Grasshopper with the Kubota diesel also and I rotate em every other week Grasshopper is faster but Troy bilt does a better job of not scalping.

Old neighbor bought a Gravely.
He was cutting about 3 acres per week total (Between his yard and his parents)

It was the biggest POS Ive ever seen. Of course everyone has flaws and has lemons and maybe his is the only one. But at 3 years old and ~ 250 hours. It was on its 4th muffler, the key switch panel area had to be replaced. and a couple other mini issues. It seemed sturdy until the thick "hand fabbed deck" split at two corners...Gravely woudnt warranty any of the above. The local dealer did the first 3 mufflers..then gravely told them not to do anymore because "their mowers werent designed to be carried on trailers after delivery and that was causing the issue."

What tires did you go with?

I've had a couple Toros and been happy with them. I'm just a home user, I don't put a lot of hours on em.
