I'll ask a bud of mine... he used to be part owner.

If it was across the street, that would pre-date LJVM? I only went to one concert in the "old" coliseum (Van Halen circa '79ish) and ain't quite sure of the history (despite living here for the past 15 years :( )

that wasnt too long ago. I saw kenny chesney there two years ago. Alot of big names have come through there. Limp Bisquit got there start there. David Allen Coe was there about once a year, Southern Culture on the skids come by once in a while, Cowboy mouth has a regular stop on their tour.

The last show on their calendar is Nov 25th. that doesnt mean much, but they usually book further out than that. Theres nothing on their website about shutting down or moving. I know WFU has been trying to buy them out for a long time and this rumor of them actually doing it has been around since i was in high school.

Winston Salem Journal reported they were moving.

I have had alot of good and bad times at Ziggys.
Alot of good shows come through there....alot of em.
I saw Marylin Manson there.THe freak was walking around smoking a joint , telling everybody it was prescribed in hell.
Kinda funny really. I once hung out with Hootie and the blowfish(darious Rucker) and a band called Dylan Fence. We all went to IHOP, Just down the street. I dont know how i got in the mix, just hanging out around back at the right time, I guess. They were not even playing at Ziggys, just stopped by to visit Jay(the owner in wheelchair) It was cool.

Jay currently has plans with 2 lawyer/investors to open up a club on 4th street. Its supposed to be a Miami type club, near the new baseball stadium. Big money!

Me to I've meet some cool people there meet the singer for God Forbid and drunk jager bombs with the singer for Lamb Of God Randy Blyth and meet Jamie Josta the singer For Hatebreed. Hate to see it go.

A real good friend of mine used to bounce there before he passed on. Lots of good times there and i got in free lol. Glad someone brought up Ziggy's cause i havnt thought about Eric (my buddy that died) in a while, sure do miss hanging out with him. RIP Eric!

Toyota Eric? If that's him, I only met him once, but missed him as soon as I found out he had died. Helluva guy.

Ziggy's IS moving. How this works, I don't know, but they're shutting down the old joint in Nov. The new Ziggy's is slated to open up in the old Woolworth store downtown in Sep. of '08. I don't know how they plan to make money while they're AWOL for 9 months. I guess they'll book shows out of the Millenium Ctr. I'll miss the old place, though. It just felt like home.

Yep toyota Eric. He was a great friend, did a lot for me.
