i went down to my local auto zone an bought a shakel lift kit an was wondering is it possible to use this on my front leaf springs an if so how much lift would it give me so i know how much of a block kit to get for my rear end so it dont look stupid an would this change my front drive shaft angle or anything else i would have to do to make it work for the front end

yea if i had the cash i would to but the way it looks it only for the rear end the front dont look lifted any it may be just the pics or something but i already bought these shackels i just wondering if i could use them on the front an if i would have to do anything else when i put them on

u can messure the length of them to tell what its gunna give ya im just tryin to make sure they make blocks that size for the rear b4 ya do it then again u could make ya own blocks

well i just went out an measured the factory ones from center of the bolts are 4inches apart the ones that o got today from center to center is 8 1/2 inches aprt

yes i did but the prob i running into is i not so smart lol i was looking on the rear but i cant see were it would go an make it be right cause on the rear the rear of the leaf spring is up above the holder so it cant go there an the front of the leaf spring which is closest the the cab i was afraid of when you attach it to the top bracket it would have to go on the inside were it would be help open there wouldnt be a spacer in between the brackets if you can picture what i trying to say maybe i just looking at it wrong

they are made for the rear is what u said right?? so they do go there if that is correct! i have a 76 k5 and im pretty sure they are the same and if im picturing the shackle kit u are talkin about right it will work on front and rear no problem! but that is if im gettin the right idea of what ur explaining

this is what i got

U need to flip the rear shackles/brackets, not a job for the novice mechanic. The shackles u have are junk and dangerous, especially in the front but not as bad as blocks. Save your money and do it right or f&$k it up and sell the whole truck in a year for a loss.

Well i am not a dumb ass i will not be using blocks for the front end but ik people who use shackles on the front are all them people stupid for doing that or they using a better quilty of shackels then them

like i told u my buddy has the same shackles front and rear and hasnt had one problem, but on the other hand i did suggest doin a full lift lol, its up to you more or less to each's own!

GotWood is right. Those shackles are junk. There is nothing holding them together except the bolts. Every time you go around a curve those shackles are going to be twisting on the bolts. Your truck doesn't have a track bar in the front to keep it from doing so. Either the bolts or the straps/shackles will eventually break. When you're looking at a mom standing there asking you why you ran out of your lane and killed her kid, and you know in the back of your mind it was because you decided to use $20 autozone shackles to get 2 inches of lift on the front of your truck, will it be worth it? Just remember it's not just you that you're putting in danger when you put junk like that on a vehicle.

A lift for your truck is not very expensive. You can buy a brand new 4 inch rough country kit with front springs, rear blocks, steering arm, and shocks for $320 on ebay from Top Gun Customz. With a 4 inch you prob won't even have to lengthen your driveshaft or brake lines. Save your money and do it right. Those shackles are only going to give you 2 1/4" of lift being 4 1/2" longer. They are also going to roll your axle down in the rear, causing the pinion angle to be too high. Cutting corners in some areas on a vehicle is ok, but not on your suspension. If you're looking to run bigger tires and can't afford a safe lift, cut the fenders. There's ways around making your vehicle unsafe.

completely agree with solaryellow, except it may be a school bus full of handicapped kids instead of just 1. point is, take the shackles back and save up for a quality lift. it is well worth it in the end.
