need help on my 84 chevy k10

Well that is why i asked an for u all that say i going to kill someone an all that do me a favor an kiss my as i tirex of hearing that as an excuse if i waz not a considered person i would have just done it an not asked anything so keep those opinions to ur self

i agree with both of ya'll, i told him on the phone that it wasnt the safest way to go, but then again at the same time one of my buddys has had the same shackles on his truck for a year with no problems, but that being said who knows that they dont break tomorrow

Your caster angle is going to increase significantly with those long shackles. You will need some angled shims under the leaf springs to correct it.

U need to flip the rear shackles/brackets, not a job for the novice mechanic. The shackles u have are junk and dangerous, especially in the front but not as bad as blocks. Save your money and do it right or f&$k it up and sell the whole truck in a year for a loss.
Best reply IMO... If you want to lift it DONT CUT CORNERS for the safety of everyone else on the road!!!!

Well i appreciate all of ur answers to my question an like i keep telling all of you least i asked instead of doing it so like before i am done hearing i trying to cut corners an kill the hole freaking world i will make sure not to ask another question since i see how u treT new people that want to get into the sport thanks alot

You are reading this wrong. New guy shows up asking an honest question. Answers come from people that have experience doing the exact job that you want to do (me). I have geto-fab experience like u don't know, made a lift kit for a jeep out of an Eclipse lowering kit and selectable locker with a lawnmower throttle cable. Yes they worked, but I wouldn't drive it on roads.

Most could care less how you do the lift, 12" shackles w/wooden blocks on the front and 6" body lift if you like. More than likely you will drive it down the road and to the mall to show off and it will be fine. The first time you decide to impress the trailer park queen and go "mudd'n" and it breaks/twists/cracks something is when you will realize that the Dick on the interweb knew what he was talking about, and had you saved and spent the money in the right place you wouldn't be selling your pos for scrap weight and driving a 85 Escort.

yea i am asking questions that why i am asking i knew that the blocks are dangerous an all so that why i was asking about the shackles i just cant stand when everyone is sitting here telling me all that i am going to kill someone i have common sence is why i was asking before i done it but i mean i understand that a lift kit aint much an i am going to be getting the 6in lift kit from skyjacker an my prob is of doing it i have no help of doing it i do everything to my truck by myself if i have help i can do more things an i am also looking into dooing the half doors or trying to find someone that can fab me some tubaler doors an i know some of the lifts require welding an which i do not have one

First off let me say get your heart off your sleeve and listen to what people have to say instead of getting your feelings hurt and getting defensive. Nobody here is being rude in what they've said, and nobody is calling you an idiot. Go over to Pirate and see how they treat you and then let us know what you think about our replies.

The reason I said something about killing someone is to show you the severity of using something like these shackles on a vehicle. We can see that you're new and you came to ask for help and that is what we are trying to do. Help you. Not talk down to you or make you feel stupid. If me telling you that something you do to your truck is going to kill someone then I'm telling you that because it will. I live 30 minutes from you and I damn sure don't want it to be someone in my family that you hit when your front end falls apart. And I promise you that getting on here, asking a question, and then telling people to kiss your ass after their reply is not the way to make friends and certainly not the way to get help, when they're doing nothing but trying to help you and keep you and everybody else on the road safer.

Not once has anyone said you're trying to cut corners. Every response has just told you not to cut corners. And noone has treated you badly in any way. If you will listen to what people have to say instead of just defending yourself then you will find it much easier and much more helpful being on this site. We are all here to help. I think it's great that you want to lift your truck, and I want you to be able to find the information you need to do it correctly and safely. Like I said before, I'm 30 minutes from you, and I'll be glad to help you in any way I can.

Your truck is the easiest and most simple suspension to lift that there is. I have lifted several of these and still have one sitting in the driveway. There's nothing to weld or fabricate in any way. It's all just removing and replacing parts.

well i am sorry if i made anyone mad i can see were you are coming from i guess i just didnt see it that way an i do appoligize for what i have said an i do take alot to heart an just saying things before i think is my biggest prob an i can sit back an look now an see i was an ass an i am thankful for everyone that has helped me so far an look forward to being helped an i am going this weekend to talk to a guy about a lift kit that he has an might be selling so on that note is it safe to buy a used lift kit or is it better to buy a new lift kit i have been doing research since this an found a 6inch lift kit for like 500 dollars i think it was that was including shipping an all the extended brake lines does this sound about right or is there other places to look around

It's cool man. Before you order a lift, send me the link and I'll let you know if it has everything you need in it. It's safe to buy a used lift as long as it's in good shape. Just like anything else you just have to be careful what you buy. I'd buy a new lift for several reasons. With a new lift you're getting new U-bolts and all other new bolts which makes install a lot easier, and with your truck you're not gonna save much money going used. With a 6 inch you're going to have to have the front driveshaft extended if your truck has a manual tranny and maybe if it's an auto.

I may have a set of doors. Let me look.

http://www.roughcountry.com/chevy_4wd_77-87_6.html here is the link just let me know what you think an if there anything else i may need

I had to do just the front on my 77. It's a short bed 4 speed. You can get it done at Asheville Powertrain. Somewhere around 75-100 if your yokes are good.

they should be good i have no prob out of them now do i need to get the kit to lower my tranfercase or anything else that the lift kit dont comewith

Call Ricky at the Tire Station @ 252-5531. He's a Rough Country dealer. Make sure you get the extended brake lines front and rear, and at least a single steering stabilizer.

Is your truck a long bed or short bed? Your truck should have an NP208 transfer case but I can't remember if they have a slip yoke. You should prob ask rough country if they recommend it. It's only $30 more to add it to the kit so you might want to get it just in case.

well are you talking about the shock on the front of the truck i already have one of them on there or is it something diff

Yeah. If it's good then no prob. If it were me I would replace it when I lifted it though.

its a short bed i guess it a 6ft bed

Yeah that's a short bed. You may need the drop kit to keep the rear shaft from vibrating.

the biggest i can right now i am running 33's i least wanna go to 35's or little bigger but not sure how big i could go on a 6inch i think it 37s the biggest i could go right
