Saturday Gulches ride

We saw yall down there. my buddies and i were riding the quads/green TJ and XJ covered in mud. fun as hell on quads after a big rain not so much fun in a jeep with bald BFG's. I got to try out my winch to get myself off the damn tree at the bottom of trail 5&6. hope to see yall down there again sometime.

here are my pics, and a couple short video clips:

I've got some longer clips but that site won't support them...if I load them up somewhere else, I'll add another link...

despite the reports I'd heard about the place from several months ago...it was loads of fun...

I'm sure the slickness made it that much more challenging, but I'd like to ride it when it's dry sometime soon...

BTW...for anybody that's never heard of it, here's their site:

Nice pics. Looks fun.

Hoping to make it there sometime this spring. I hope it is a little less wet by then.

Later.

Looks winch-tastic! Good pictures.
Hey Stuart, what's the asking price now?

we decided we either need to use one of the pics for his AutoTrader ad...or make one of those (maybe AllState?) commercials where it tries to make the damage sound like a positive thing, i.e. wreck/fire = fresh paint...

BTW...where were you?

Greg

Had a blast out there with you guys, glad to get out of the shop for a bit.

Joel, let me know when you are headed down there. It was a fun place.

Roger that. That is about 1/2 way between my brother's place and mine. Is there anything out there for his stock LJ to play on?

I would think so...especially if it wasn't as wet...

we obviously aimed for some of the trails they rated as more difficult, but there are quite a few trails crammed into the park...of all different ratings...

Nice pics Greg. Did Stewart try that other line to avoid ripping off the snorkel?

yep...wanted to make sure he laid it on the driver's side...

you notice it was actually gooey enough that he was sinking into the mud while he was laying on his side?

see it seeping into the window opening:

nasty...

I was looking over my jeep today now that the rain has stopped. I got more body damage at that place than anywhere I have ever been. :driver: I totally trashed the windshield frame and glass, have several big mashed in areas on the passenger side, and the passenger side door will barely close. I have to force it to shut. Gonna have to break out a big hammer and pry bar to see what I can do. Oh yea, I 'm also going to have to break down two of my TSL's to get the tree root pieces out of the bead. I had blast riding there though. Look forward to going back again.

Thanks for posting the pics guys....had a great time. I am sure i am going to be washing the inside of the rig out for weeks. After yall left....i tried a hill climb and it got a little nasty slinging the mud with no windshield.

Greg....tube garden is a JOKE. We found a couple other trails that looked like they might be fun. We will have to run back down there some time soon.

If Staton is lucky....we may even invite him.....would have been hell without a winch though....

good to know...

I may aim for a trip back in March...we may try Crozet in February.

We normally do a Tellico trip in March, but it sounds like a lot of the good trails are going to be closed until April, so a day trip to Gulches (hopefully not right after 36 hours of rain) in early/mid March might work just fine...
