Tell me about your winch

I have run a smittybuilt xrc10 for 5 years and I have definitely got my moneys worth out of it.it has pulled harder an been more reliable than I would have ever imagined for a budget winch the only negatives I could say is line speed is slower than the warn stuff but hey when your stuck you got all the time in the world, the other is after a few years the solenoid pack died so we converted it to ford solenoids and its been great.

I run an 8500lb SuperWinch. Only used it on myself twice (2nd time yesterday as a matter of fact). Yesterday was a very very hard pull getting myself out of the creek behind my house.
I had to drag my buddy up an 8ft bank one rainy day when he slid off the trail in his XJ. I used it just last Monday to winch a guy sideways on 38s to get him back up Daniel. It winched some large bushes up in my front yard and many many other smaller jobs. Loaded dead jeeps on trailers, holds the dog while i set up camp, helped a guy in a way too small truck and big boat up a boat ramp. For a $400 winch of it stopped tomorrow I couldn't complain.
However I feel confident that its ready for anything once I replace the wire. I recently serviced it and the motor looked good, leads and solenoids looked good. I greased the gears up good and it free spools much better now. For the price tag SuperWinch is great and I've been impressed with SmittyBuilt too. Guy on Daniel last week needed his very new Warn winch pretty bad last Monday but it kept getting hot and wouldn't pull after barley any load was applied. Maybe he hooked it up with bad connections? I told him to call Warn and they would surely want to make it right.
If you can get your hands on a good 8274 do it!

Oh and I'm running a good battery and a 160amp Durango alternator. There is no telling what all this winch has been thru as I got it with the jeep and I'm not sure how much the PO used it. I believe he mentioned that he had also gotten it used.
