Does anybody know if chocolate milk is approved by Aisin as a lubricant in the AX15? If so, I might save myself a little money on buying new Synchromesh and just pour this stuff back down the shifter hole....

Tell your ax15 it's not allowed to have chocolate milk. It's stuck with 75w-90 gear oil.

I run 50/50 Syncromesh and Hi Tach Oil Stablizer in my NV 3550. Shifts are much smoother.

the nv3550 uses paper lined synchros, you can't use conventional oils in them, you must use a synchromesh or the linings will come off of the synchro.

Hi Tach is safe for Synchro,s according to the bottle. and you are right also.

i use 75-90 or a straight weight oil (sae10-sae30)

Funny thing is.... according to the innernets... you can use gear oil, so long as it's GL-3 or GL-4 rated. GL-5 is bad for the synchros....?

I've got lots of 10-30 laying around, so will probably cycle some of that through for a while. So long as it doesn't make any bad noises, I'll drain and refill with Synchromesh or something similar....

I dropped some dirt in the chocolate milk, so it's probably not usable anymore. :(

yes it does call for gl3 oir gl4

i won't get into the gl5 debate here. it has been an ongoing debate in the transmission industry for 20 years on the impact it has on brass synchro's. in an ax5 it doesn't really matter because the synchro's will last longer than the rest of the trans.(the last part is humor)
