Scrap steel in or around Charlotte? I need a plate!

I had to laugh, I posted this same topic exactly 4 years and got some good replies, but nothing was near Charlotte (Or North Charlotte/Denver area). I need a 28"x7" piece of 1/4" steel, anyone have a scrap piece I could buy from them?

I'm making a winch mount for the wife and have all of the supporting steel, just missing the base. Here is the thread I posted up in 2010, I don't have a clue what project I was talking about haha. Everyone suggested Foils, but it's an hour and a half round trip, looking for something closer.

I'm building a custom hidden winch and need a specific length to go between a cross member. Found a place not too far away that will supply and cut the 1/4" for $16. Seems like a good deal: Metal Supermarkets

I'm at Metal Supermarkets right now, no minimum and all the steel I needed cost $16. Plus they cut it for free.

That is a pretty decent deal for that piece of steel, especially with no cut fee.

hahaha and that's exactly what I did after posting that.... Thanks though!! I'll have to give them a try. A lil more out of my way, but my current supplier wants me to buy full pieces or pay ridiculous price for it. I will say he is cheaper than most but sometimes you just need a small piece..

I was just looking at a piece I got; But it's 6" wide, & 7-8' long, at least 3/8" thick. Hadn't really thought about cutting it. Figured I'd find a use for it someday.
