whatcha get? whatcha get??

Tool box, drill set and tool kit to keep at the house. Apparently Lisa doesn't care for neither my excuse of all my tools being at the shop or the stench of gear oil they all carry...
Looks like I'll be installing that new vanity in the bathroom today after all (I left my tools at the shop Wednesday).

More importantly, we had great fellowship with my in laws in Raleigh last weekend and my family yesterday.

It was Sam (my fiancé) and my first Christmas in our new to us house. We closed on it in September and have been fixing it all up since then. We finally moved in three weeks ago. So most of our $$ is wrapped up in fixing and renovating the house. So as of 5:00 pm Xmas eve, all the presents were wrapped and under the tree, and we were relaxing waiting to head to dinner with my parents.

We were gone for maybe 90 minutes tops. When we returned home, we were heart broken, but only breifly.

Our 7 month old, German shepherd puppy "delta" had chewed her way out of her crate in our bedroom, managed to open our bedroom door, and head downstairs and destroy most of the presents, rip the stockings off the mantle and destroy them. As well she destroyed 8 of the plastic ornaments from the bottom of the tree. She also drug the trash bag from the can in the kitchen into the living room and destroy it and scatter trash/food/wrapping paper everywhere. Needless to say, Sam and I were mentally destroyed walking in to find her in the living room.

So we stayed up till 2, cleaning and re wrapping everything. I had to open a Xmas present of Evan Williams single barrel to keep from strangling our puppy. Delta spent the rest of Xmas eve night and all Xmas day outside on the porch. The only items really destroyed were some ornaments, our stockings, and a pair of boots for Sam. Apparently delta really liked the suede, and lambs wool combo, because after she found the boots, they were the focus of all her attention.

We were overwhelmed with our families generosity to us this Christmas. Although the several hours of frustration, we are truly lucky to be able to spend Xmas with our families and receive our gifts.

Henry golden boy in .17hmr, a new gas grill, as well as vent visors and floor mats for the tow pig.

Merry Christmas NC4x4 family! Just had to share the destruction story, figured you guys would get a kick out of it.

Wife got me one of those new Atari "flashback 5" old-school-like emulators, basically a mimic of the old console and 2 stick controllers. so that hsould be interesting... Guess she figures I don't waste enough time? Maybe it's to show the kids "what things USED to be like"...

Also got to spend the whole day watching all 5 X-men movies as a family... so that's worth something lol

I got the same Atari throwback deal. I figured I would save that and the bottle of rye for a sick day.

Stocking full of snacks, some shirts, Harbor Freight gift card, a little money. Oh, and a mound of credit card debt! It's been a slim Christmas, but we had to do something for the kids and family. We decided to just pretend we had it and go ahead with having some fun. We'll deal with the consequences later, probably with the money we got!

My Christmas miracle was my dinner, though. We host at our house and I'll typically do a non-traditional dinner. This year, though, I picked up a turkey cheap around Thanksgiving, so I decided to brine and smoke it. That may have turned out to be one of the most succulent and flavorful birds I've ever had! I was nervous as piss about undercooking it or drying it out. The leg quarters did wind up in the oven for a few minutes to get them up to temp, but I don't think that's cheating. ;-)

Since I got my 2012 Wrangler a week ago I have to count that. Good dinner and good times with family.

I went out and got shitfaced... If that counts.

I bought myself a KDX220....first two stroke in 20 yrs. , my wife got me concert tickets to a group who doesn't tour a lot in the US and are not very mainstream due to their very unique instrumental style.

2Cellos in Durham.

I'm stoked about it just wish I could afford to see them in Europe.
Be needing some dinning advice to make it a nice night for me and the wife. This country boy will have to cleanup a bit.

I got a haul this year: Viair 444C onboard air setup, quick release fire extinguisher mount, giftcard for $50 in ammo, some cash, streamlight 2AA flashlight, North Face jacket, Columbia shirt, a nice pair of thick socks, 2 scarves (I don't think I have ever owned a scarf before, LOL! I think I am gonna like them though), Yeti stainless steel tervis, Stanley stainless soup/stew thermos, Keurig coffee maker and some K-cups, cell phone holder that bolts into the bolt holes in the tray at the top of the dash center stack of my truck, AND (totally awesome!)- 4WD 202 class at UORTC!!!!!!!

I got a nice pair of Justin boots, a Power Probe 3, a personal fire axe, some ammo, some collectible knick knacks, some clothes, and a new air compressor. My wife and I both had to work Christmas day so we exchanged gifts Christmas Eve at my parents house.

Some clothes and kitchen gadgets, an ignition switch panel for the commando, and a yeti that will be here next week. Now to celebrate my oldests 12th birthday today.

Wife brought home the Flu. So Christmas day and yesterday was bad for both of us. Just starting to get better.

Did get an old school recurve bow that I have been wanting for awhile. Now to go find the energy to pull the darn thing.

I think I got the best and most expensive present on here. Lol. My wife gave birth on the 19th to a little girl. Probably going to cost me a few grand so we tried to limit what we bought for presents this year. We bought for my son but that was about it.
And my son and I got the flu so that made it even more interesting with a new baby and a sick kid, but it turned out to be a good Christmas anyway.

The good news is you get to write off the new kid for the entire 2014 tax year!

We got a 6 year old girl...
We've been planning to adopt. We recently got licensed to foster-to-adopt. Our 9 year old daughter asked Santa for a little sister earlier in the month. Morning of Tuesday Dec 16, I prayed that this would be our last Christmas without our new child, or if God wanted to do a miracle, he could make it our first Christmas with our new child. Keep in mind at that point we had not been matched with any kid. That very day, my wife was doing some volunteer work and was introduced to a Social Worker. The Social Worker said "I have a 6 year old girl for you." DSS brought her to us on the Saturday before Christmas.
This was the most interesting Christmas we've ever had!

My wife and I got to spend our first Christmas with our 8 month old daughter. She loved it and was so happy and full of smiles and laughs. Puts a whole new perspective on Christmas when you have a child.

I got the flu last week and my wife wasn't feeling good over Christmas. Last night my daughter got sick. Been lots of snuggling with daddy today.

Other than all of us getting sick, it was the best Christmas yet.
