Any of you guys use a different name for yourself on Facebook? As some of you know I use Chris at MarsFab for my personal account.

Today I try to go post to FB like I do every day and get a pop up on my phone that says I need to authenticate my identity before I can proceed. It then leads me to a page where I have to give them my full name and an image of my I.d. to prove it. I'd think that would be no problem I could just use chris at MarsFab as my first, middle and last names but having to have an id to prove it makes it a problem.

They ask that "everyone use their real name so friends can see who they're connecting with". Everyone knows me as MarsFab not Chris D. Marshall. This is ridiculous I can no longer access my personal or business page until this is resolved and now even if I change to my real name I have to prove it or I'm SOL. I do not want to send them a picture of my ID or any other document that shows my information.

I suppose with all the people getting catfished these days this is a measure to eliminate that problem and I can fully understand that but what about the thousands of people who use FB for their business? Are they trying to get us to pay? I'd be glad to pay an advertising fee but they don't offer the option. Facebook and Instagram have done wonders for my business.

They are cracking down on personsel pages that are business pages. I had 2 customers get locked out this week. They are starting to charge in some way for business ones now from what one of them was telling me.

It's the gubmit using their power to spy on everybody. Stay away from it.

If they'd tell me how to pay to keep my name MarsFab I would but they don't. This seems more to me like a ploy to get rid of false or scam accounts that do nothing but waste bandwidth.

Plus I have a Facebook business page. Which I've paid good money to for advertising on it. And the two are tied together.

Just as i suspected. Govco mind control site.
I think the NSA has infiltrated Snappy's brain also.
Just sayin.......

I think Savage and Paul are close rthan most want to believe...
besides big business doesnt like to pay for unidentifiable target data.

A friend of mine had a similar experiencing. He was using a nickname and they made him use his real name.

I solved the FB problem years ago. Deleted my account and never went back!
Deleting/deactivating is one thing but the info is still out there because the second you ever log back in it'll come right back like you never left. I tried to erase my fb history and the only way to do it was go through each comment, like, follow and delete each individual one. They don't make it easy. It took several tiring days to completely erase my existence on there.

I really don't like Facebook but as much as it irritates me, it has built my business. My web site gets 5k hits every three months or so. My Facebook page gets that many hits in a week roughly. I've had single posts that get as many as 30k in 12 hrs. That's a ton of exposure.
It doesn't make sense that if my personal page is tied to my business page (where I do pay for advertising) I can't share the name to some extent so that people know how to find me specifically. I see all kinds of other shops that do it like the guys from poly performance. Some of their guys are ____ at poly performance or Brandon at rides etc.

It's their $250 billion dollar company, they can do whatever the fawk they want.

You built your business, not Zuckerberg.

Not sure if it'll work or not, but there's a mobile app called "Paper" that I use on my phone to access my FB. Granted it does nothing for computer access, but it would be interesting to see if you can get in through it.

bingo
All the money comes from the info they sell about your activities, the tie into big data. Not being able to tie it to a "real person" make it invalid/useless data - e.g. wasted revenue on you.

I was wondering why I hadn't seen you posting anything lately @MarsFab
