So we got a new shop a little while back, and my ole lady has been doing some cleaning. Well
There is a third bay in the back of the shop that we hardly ever go into. She went in the other day and found a snake skin, I told her its was probably from along time ago, and it's to cold for snakes to be shedding their skin (I think). So know she is on a mission for me to make this place snake proof and make sure there is none laying dormant in the shop. So what can I lay down, or do to at least prevent them from coming in or around the property. I have heard of moth balls, and lime, but don't know how well that really works if they do at all. So any opinions? Thanks in advance!

Yep, wife actually came eye to eye with the real thing. Worked like a charm. :) She hasn't been back since.

You have to eliminate the mice. If you're so struck on snakes, just get a cat.

Educate her on how beneficial a good black snake can be and learn to love him/her. They keep mice away and some say they are territorial and will keep poisonous snakes away

This, black snakes are welcome in my yard, and if I find them in my garage, I escort them back outside and then let them be.

Agree w/ education.
But this is a woman, so it's probably futile.
So -
You have to eliminate the mice. If you're so struck on snakes, just get a cat.
this. Barn cat. Feed it rarely.

Lol cats work well if you don't mind the gifts of a half eaten mouse now and then.....

thats why you don't feed 'em. They won't leave half a mouse.

Cats are only good for making sesame chicken and target practice. Nothing more.

Id rather have a snake in the house than a 4 legged cat

Sore spot, found!

Non venomous snakes compete with venomous species for food if you leave black, garder, rat snakes on your property you don't have copperheads and around my way rattlers are bad I brought 16 lack snakes on our 3 acres 2 years ago and haven't seen a copper or rattler since!

Who said anything about letting him in the house?
I repeat - barn cat. Rarely fed.

I like my paint on my cars and not cat prints, thank you.
Plus when you put trash bags in the bed of the truck they tear those up.

I like Dave enough to call him on his bullshit.

I disapprove of painting either sex with the broad brush of being stubborn/frosty/high-maintenance or immature/immature/immature, even when I know it's true

Well I talked to her and I think we are just going to get a cat to keep around. I'm pretty sure it's going to be a black snake, that's all I have seen around this area, especially there being a big field in the back. They like to lunch on the field mice. Either way, now she says it's not the snakes that bother her as much as that she thinks that room has a ghost lol.. I admit the room is a bit creepy but idk about all that, looks like I'm going to go get some holy water to spread around lol.. I gots to keep the lady happy, plus she does help me on the stuff I hate doing lol

Well i also have a ghost and we have coexisted peacefully for many years. If you actually do have one you can talk to them sometimes to make them chill.
