Any thru hikers?

If you're looking for a 8 day hike. A few years back my oldest son and I were dropped of in Bland,Va and hiked south to Damascus,Va on the AT it took us 8 days. This route takes you thru Grayson Highlands state park, which is one of the more scenic places on the AT. There are wild ponies in that park which were pretty cool to see.
 
I like that route! The Mt. Rogers area is awesome. I've hiked some of the AT across from Bear Tree campground North of Damascus. I need to figure out a shorter route that will take me through Grayson Highlands. That sounds perfect.

Is Gayson Highlands park have a camp ground and is it worth to go to for a weekend my girlfriends has been begging me to take her this spring
 
Have any of yall ever been to Damascus, va on trail day? Man its tough to watch the people from the town get up on top of the stores, and then they throw anything and everything they have at the parade walking through.

We went to Grayson Highlands State Park Dec 31st - Jan 3rd for my birthday. That was our first time visiting the place. We rented a cabin just a few miles from the park entrance. It was just my wife, myself, and our 5 yr old boy. It was awesome, and we plan on going back in the spring when the rhododendrons are blooming. If you like hiking, I highly recommend going. I'll post a few pictures tonight.

I've backpacked Grayson Highlands/Mt Rogers several times. Always a good time.
