Off she goes

Very nice sir. I am close to 45% equity. I have no plans to pay off early anymore (used to want to); trying to save as much as I can since this is about the cheapest money I will ever borrow.

Did you roll a whole 30 years?

I just refinanced and knocked mine back to 15 years. Should have it paid off in 12...so I'll be 38 when it's paid off. I'm good with that :huggy:

Who the hell sends checks by mail?
Shit with all the fake accounts and sketchy things with the banks happening. I'd hate to have a mortgage at the same bank as all of your accounts and then all of a sudden you house is for closed on and there isn't a paper tail on you making payments.

In your defence I dont pay anything paperless I like have a physical copy of bills and a copy of the check I sent for proof if something ever was to happen

There are always email confirmations for online payments. I've had zero issues paying all of my bills online.

That's true and the big companies it's not a problem but the town tried to back charge me for 3 months after I set up online pay. It would pull from account and go into the town's account but never showed on their systems. After that I like having hard copies.

I also never do auto-pay. I like to retain control of when they get my money lol

The only bill I pay online is my cell phone because Verizon will not let me use a check. I pay with checks and mail everything. Paper trail and I also get to choose when the bill is paid. Old school, yes. Works for me? Yes as well.

Fuck hand-writing checks.
We use a service from our bank - a local credit union - where they auto-send a bank check to arrive on a set date. It's only like $.50 or $1 for each. After you account for the cost of a stamp, envelope, and even 2 minutes of your time it's not worth it.
Mortgage is auto-drafted anyway b/c I figure that's even more reliable.

By this time next year my house should be paid off. I'll be 31. Oh and I do not do auto payments but online or over the phone with card/ACH is fine with me, never had any issues. I did change my insurance company when they tried to refuse cash. My money says valid for all debts, public and private.

Ummm, your account and routing number is on your checks.
Yeah but they are only going to get the amount that the check is written for. That protects me from some company doing an auto draft for the wrong amount and you only discover it when you notice you are missing money and now you have to try and get that corrected.

Send me a check for .50¢ and see what I can do. Ever heard of check by phone?

Me too. I don't like everyone having my account numbers and giving them cart blanc.
I used to be the same way until I realized the details of it.
If you do EFT, all you're doing is giving your acct # to the bank that has your loan. Which is exactly the same thing that is on the checks that you send. Could they screw up? Yes, I guess so, but I don't know about you but I've also had a check mis-read and the wrong amount taken.
In both cases, you get a copy record of the transaction. Except w/ the EFT it happens immediately, which makes it easier to keep track of.
Could the loan bank's account be hacked? I guess, but that's really rare, and about the same chance as it happening to your own bank. And most accounts don't store the full EFT account # in the clear in the same login account with the loan info anyway.
On the same token I could walk by your mailbox and steal the check.

If you're paranoid about the loan-holding bank mis-using the EFT account, you can always just set up a secondary extra account on your end, and on the day before the EFT draft, set and auto-draft from your primary account into that. Then use that secondary one for the EFT. Then they can't over-draw it b/c there's nothing there more than what they need to take.
