You and all your contacts have been compromised. Your at your house ready to leave you have 5 minutes to pack a bag with anything that you may need to survive for the next year. No question you have to go off the grid cutting all contact with family and friends. So what's going in your pack?
 
Thermals, overalls, socks, boots, cap, 12 gauge shotgun and variety of knives, first aid accessories, chainsaw(hand). Gold, silver, gems or anything to barter.
The remaining four minutes would be spent drinking a beer or two.

Agreed. Short term BOB stays packed 24/7 and goes with me every time i leave the house.
Long term stuff "might" weigh more than i can carry.

I'd mount the 1919 (sadly only semi auto) on the roof of the HMMWV, throw about 1k belted rounds in it, grab some other stuff and roll. Now that I think of it maybe I should load some more belts...

Guess I'd have my wife follow in the excursion (more vehicles the better). Too bad I wouldnt have anyone up in the turret to shoot the 1919 though....

It would take me longer than 5 minutes though.
 
I have thought about stuff like this after watching the entire series of The Walking Dead last month and thinking about a post-apocalyptic existence. I guess that situation is significantly different that what you are proposing but I need to give it a little more thought. Guns, ammo, cash, clothes, not sure what else.
 
Guess I'm not important enough to be messed with. Do you really think this is even remotely possible. I don't.

Now if a hurricane or some other natural disaster were to befall, the cats, some money, family heirlooms, and some food. Insurance can get the rest.
 
A zombie outbreak would be much better than all out chaos. Zombies can't shoot back, and they can't seem to run very well either.

I am not a 'prepper', but I'd take as much (useful) junk as I could haul and get as far up a mountain as I could with all of it. Then I would block every trail in by cutting trees down.
 
Pistol, rifle, shotgun, LOTS of tooth paste and floss. Winter and summer boots, crocs, and my most select sock stash. Lots of salt and seasonings. Matches and lighter. Chainsaw and axe. Minimal seasonal clothes. Winter and summer sleeping bags. Rain gear. Dutch oven and mess kit. Gallon of hand lotion O
 
72hr bag always loaded and ready, along with 5 rifles and 20 mags. I'm 2 hrs away from the slide in and jeep ready on trailer. I have a designated BOL and plan. food for 7 months.etc but I can run gunner for tacoma747 if needed :D


Shits going down and I'm ready :rockon:
 
What's the consensus among preppers? Is it best to be paranoid of everyone when the SHTF? Will there still be alliances among those you consider "friends" now or is it everyone for themselves? What about extended family?
 
Depending on the "event" would depend where and how I went. But 7 out of 10 times I plan to head to a water system with islands

From the original post this sounds more like a Bourne senerio than a SHTF large scale fallout. I read no family, no contact. Changes my perspective greatly. My BOB, light quick simple. Focus on flexibity and relocation.
 
Looking at the proposed scenario .....
Alone and under the radar .... some guy trudging down hwy 65 wearing a 70lb. pack and carrying weapons is not under the radar.
My favorite and most dependable concealable weapons with ammo, a small pack with clothes and toiletries and an money.
Dress normal.
Then just act like a regular guy walking around.
