when buying a used car...where do you get a mechanic to look at it?

It seems commonplace advice to have a mechanic look at a used car before you buy it. I think it is a great idea. I, however, do not know a mechanic in Charlotte that would help me out...and although I would be willing to pay some cash for an opinion, I am confused as to how I go about it.

If any Charlotte mechanics wanna volunteer...I am all ears. If not, do you just go to a shop and ask to talk to a mechanic and see if he will help me out when he has free time? It seems kind of awkard to me to do that, but I dont know if that is fairly common.

oh and if someone wants to do it for free or cheap...I got a fat pocket full of good Karma that I am willing to let go...

most independent shops do used car check overs for a fee. at the shop i work at in gboro we charge 1 hour of labor time which is $68. we give the car a good check over, brakes, oil leaks, condition of fluids, suspension wear, belts, etc. just call some of your local shops somebody will help u out.

The inspection you're gonna get is only as good as the mechanic doing it. Find a good shop first.

If they won't let you take it, I'd be concerned about that dealer, and the car in general.

In Charlotte...head down to CMD Automotive. $50 and they go all over the car, took about an hour. They saved me from buying a lemon once before so im somewhat partial.

I looked up cmd automotive, but they are closed on saturday and ive been researching and looking at cars all week, but plan to buy tomorrow bc i gotta go back to Wilmington.

Does anyone know where to find a shop that will be open tomorrow in Charlotte?

Yeah, this guy checked out a vehicle for me, and convinced me not to buy it. With the salesman standing right there watching no less.

It is always a better practice to go for a pre purchase inspection before dealing in anything used, but if you are not able to find any mechanic then I would suggest you make your purchase from a reliable online dealer who provides a warranty on your vehicle. A few months ago my cousin bought a used Ford from autopartsfair website
It came at a very reasonable cost, so check out them too.

Seriously? This spamming is getting effing ridiculous.
