Decided to treat myself to a new bow this morning. This afternoon I had my first accidental dry fire while getting used to a new release. String snapped, hopefully not much else damaged but will find out on Tuesday when I have time to go back. I hate when I do something stupid......

Dayum that sucks!! What did you get? I am still shooting my (P)lay (S)chool (E)quipment Evo Dream Season. I like it pretty good for tree stand hunting b/c of its short axle to axle.

My feelings the same about my PSE Surge. Awesome for stands and even larger blinds that you can stand in.

IIRC my bow is 14yrs old. I contemplated getting a new one but mine isn't broke. I have friends that buy new every 1-2 seasons, baffles the hell out of me lol.

Mine was 15 years old as well and nothing wrong with it. Just had the itch for a new toy. I originally planned to go mid-tier but nothing I liked went out to a 31" draw length so went a little overboard and got the new Halon 32. It was a bit painful handing over the cash but I suppose if I keep it 15 years like the last one it's not so bad......

Same here. My bow is a high country probably 12-13 years old. Probably killed 50 deer. It's beat up, ugly but effective.

My son is on his 3rd, because....new bows are cool. Plus he is a 34" draw which means there are very few choices out there....lucky for him his grandpa loves buying bows. Lol.

I know nothing about bows. But about 2 weeks ago, my dad gave me his old Proline Force II because it's been hanging in his basement for probably 10 years. I've never shot a bow before. I decided to shoot a couple arrows at a rotting stump and they all hit. So the next day I took 7 arrows and shot them at the same stump, which I measured to be 50ft from where I was standing. All 7 hit, with about an 8" spread.

Pic only shows 6 because one busted through the bark on the right hand side and kept on trucking. I was pretty pleased with myself and the bow too! Anybody know anything about Proline bows? They any good? What is the little rubber/plastic piece that front of the arrow rests on called? Mine is broken off.

I bought a used Hoyt in high school (15 years ago)...because it was the same bow my dad had (bought his new in the 90's). For whatever reason I buy in to the hype of needing a new bow every five years or so, spend $5-600, use it for a season, they don't kill any differently, sell it for half what I paid...and end up going back to my 20+ year old Hoyt.

First gen. 05 Switchback still shoots well w vintage carbon express. one pin for 20/30 and one pin for 40 ........I will not buy another bow in my life.
