Mazda 3 Flickering Interior Lights

My wife has noticed that the instrument panel to the right that displays MPG, time, AC/Heat controls, etc has started flickering when hitting the brakes. Also any interior overhead lights that are on during this time, will also flicker. The main instrument panel will not do this nor will the headlights. I recently changed out the battery in this car and the one I was given was smaller but still worked and thought that maybe the battery was moving around inside the tray and causing this. So I re-secured it down and doesn't seem like its moving at all, yet the problem is still happening. Its not that noticeable unless you are looking at it closely, but my wife notices it.
Anyone have any idea? Car only has 47k on it.

Called up Flow Mazda Greensboro and told them about the issue and came back and said it would be $120 for the PCM update... I argued that after a quick search, that this is a known issue but because its not considered a recall, they have to charge, they said that they would give a $20 discount and only charge me $100.

Most of what I have read is that most dealerships are doing it for free or only charging $50 or so.

after doing a bit of digging I also found this... So does this mean even though my Mazda is out of warranty that this issue would fall under the Mazda Federal Emissions Warranty?

Maybe, try it and see. I would think even though the PCM is covered, that an update for non emissions issue may not be. I hope I'm wrong for your sake

So, I would try this question on one of the several Mazda forums, like Mazd3Revolution or Mazda247. It's full of guys who work at dealerships.
