Been leaking coolant for a while. Month maybe?
I kept driving it cause my tuner can read the temps and I couldn’t figure out the leak. Never gets over 195 deg
I have not added coolant until today. I added a gallon and it didn’t even fill up into the reservoir.

I think I should fix it. It’s kinda leaking pretty bad.
It leaves a puddle under it when I come out every morning but does not drip once truck is warm.
It’s on the drivers side where it shows up the most.
I came out from work and there was a pretty steady drip.

Any advice? See pics

Possible a cold leak, we see this a lot on machines. However its blamed on worm style clamps. The constant spring type clamps are much better and really dont see it much with them.

Have you checked the basic stuff? Hoses& water pump?

The 6.7 has somewhat of a habit of having radiator leaks
Yeah, it’s not the radiator that I can see. I know they are common. It’s further back towards the motor.

I’ve checked the hoses that I can see. These new things are so congested. I’ll have to tear off some junk to see below.

Does this have the dual system....one for engine management and one because another was a bad idea?

Seriously though Ford done something with a dual cooling system set up....could explain the lack of over heating.

If they're anything like the F150s and have the multiple piece upper radiator hose, it's probably that. Leaks when it's cold because of the plastic housing.

You check the coolant inlet to the turbo? Radiator is the most common, turbo coolant inlet 2nd, upper Hose 3rd.

I went to Google university. Lots of videos.

Thanks for doing that for me. lol
I just posted up real quick to see what people would suggest. I saw the first two suggestions but I don’t think it’s those two. Maybe the 3rd.

I think you’re right here. Cause I only drained one of them to delete it.
And that reservoir hasn’t budged. It’s the smaller circled one.

This is not my engine bay... lol too clean

Yes, there's a high-temp system for engine coolant and a low-temp system for the air/water intercooler, trans cooler, etc.

I guess I really need to pressure test it and see what gives. But do it when it’s cold.
I’m hoping it’s not the water pump. That’s gonna be a bear.

This night mare of congestion and complicated packaging is one of the biggest reasons aside from cost that I Will Not buy another diesel. I haven't been under the hood of a new Dodge but I can't imagine it's any better.
DEF, EGR, and on and on Will keep my future purchases in the gas category unless something drastically changed.

The water pump isn’t that bad. I replaced mine about a year ago. I thought it would be a major PITA too and still think that. I was glad to spend the $600 (parts and fluid included) to the mechanic to swap it out. He said it took him a hair over 3 hours but I don’t see how.

Remove grill, drain fluid, remove fan shroud, fan, belt and you can get to it then.
Should be easier than removing the EGR cooler and exhaust.
But for $300 labor it may be worth it.

Where did you get it done at?

I had it done at the dealer. I fully expected to be hit with a $1200 bill but it was half that. I wouldn’t want to fight with it to save a few $ in labor costs.

I think book hours on it were about 4.2

None of that shit in the photo is the motor. You can't really see the fan belt at all from the top side.

The Cummins hasn't changed much. There's a big piece of plastic on top, but it's still a I6, it's still exhaust on the left and intake on the right.

and a whopping 2 10mm bolts to replace the water pump.
Whew.

Yep and water pumps are simple stuff.....they haven't quite attempted to make that wheel any rounderererrrrrrr.
Yet.
